My preference would be for something light that can take higher temperatures and doesn't impart any flavour. Something like grape seed oil.

 

Grape seed makes that strange seafoam green teal color out of things. Lard stays in place real well and makes you think about bbq when it heats up.

check this out I got a few tips from this. The tracks I got all came with hardware of course and instructions. Measure, measure, measure. Then before you drill measure.
silicone is your friend.
Paint marker and tape.

 

Unfortunately, the diameter of the holder takes up just a litte over half the cup holder area so you probably won’t be able to fit 2 side by side
