i like this! very wise and responsible man right here, evaluate the risks and decide on precautions.
ive been carrying for +20 years now. 2018 my wife was diagnosed with cancer (shes in remission now :)) and up til recently i was mental unstable to carry a firearm due to her battle with cancer. nothing wrong with that, its being a responsible firearm owner and CCW permit holder.

before trying to figure out what firearm in what caliber start with some professional handgun training classes. meantime continue shooting with your dad and friend... you'll know when your ready

    I remember a lady asking a cop "Why do you carry a 45...his reply...because they don't make a 46".

This, I read this on Glock Talk, they had like 18 pages on the capacity and caliber discussion. So training is the key, first 3 rounds, it’s usually done one way or another. Hope you’re better then the other guy…..

    True.

I have yet to find a tiny 380 that doesn't sting when shooting it. I don't like them at all but they work when I need to wear things that won't allow larger guns to be concealed. Was able to conceal a Ruger LCP in a fitted suit worn at a wedding. Nothing else would have worked.

A good friend of mine has Aspergers and owns more guns than you can shake a stick it. It's his hobby. Whenever I have gun related questions he knows the answers to anything from antique weaponry to the latest and greatest.

It's a balancing act. I should've been more specific, though. I was talking about choosing between different similarly sized guns that would serve the same purpose. I've always been a Glock guy, then I got really into Walther's, mainly because they sat so comfortably in my hand. The grip itself was extremely comfortable. Once I started shooting it I realized the grip angle was unnatural, getting a good grip on the gun from the holster was difficult and my high grip caused the huge slide stop to lock pretty often. It was great for slow fire, but I could not point shoot, draw or get follow up shots effectively.

My friend, who doesn't own a Tacoma and isn't active on social media, bought this Stribog SP9A1 last year; Couldn't resist posing for a picture!

If I were to buy a Rigby, it wouldn’t be in 30-06.
If you buy a Rigby, buy the whole Rigby. ( As in a caliber made buy Rigby)

FWIW, I don’t care to own a Rigby. Firearms are tools to me.
They get beat, banged, and drug through harsh elements.

Was chatting with a Cabela's employee; Had never heard of Rigby and told him that if actually had enough to buy that weapon, I'd be afraid to use it!

    Nahhh, you’d be fine with a 30-06.
I’m 5’9 150 lbs and I can’t shoot one fine. It thumps me a little more now. I used to weigh 210. I had a little extra padding then. Wasn’t a problem at all then. Just think about it. The 30-06 is what all the guys in WWI used. If it was too bad, they would not have used it.

It’s the price that I’m not fine with.
