Looking for a decent pair of headlights for my 2012. Stock ones are F’ed. I like the black surrounds on TRD Pro style lights. Anyone know a good source for them or a decent aftermarket version in my budget? Alternatively, I like the AlphaRex Pro headlights, but reviews seem mixed at best.

Edit: Ordered some OEM TRD Pro headlights. Going to go with the non-harnessed ultimate headlight mod.

I would buy a pair of Depo housings, take them apart, and build them with a retrofit. And yes, you can do it for less than $500.

I was staying away from Alpha due to low light output reviews. I like the Morimoto but outside of that price range. Maybe some retros if you wait for a user to sell if you don't want to do yourself.

Go with the OEM Pro style, don't even mess around. I have those + the ultimate headlight upgrade and have never looked back. This was after trying two aftermarket sets that I was never happy with.

Got my OEM pro headlight today. Total cost 612$ CAD. Last year i saw them around 1000$ + a shit ton of shipping, I was considering aftermarket to lower the cost, damn what a steal. Crazy that i bought them directly from Toyota in Toronto.

You can't go wrong with OEM, all the aftermarket have pro and con but i think not one come with the quality of Toyota, if you stay with halogen with the high power mod (100w i think) you will never find better combo. Myself i try to keep away from LED or HID and invest more in better and more powerfull fog light where i can use in every situation road/trail.

Every lamp/bulb is included. I will probably buff the old one and try to sell them in my area.

Check online dealer the price range for the same item varies greatly.

There the number to look for the pro headlight (good for 2012-2015)

    8111004221 1 $ 246.40 Headlight Assembly. (Right)
    8115004221 1 $ 246.40 Headlight Assembly. (Left)

Been looking for some headlights as well for my 2013 TRD. Original ones work ok but would like a more updated look.

Sort of leaning that direction. Any leads on a decent price? I saw a thread where someone got OEMs for like $160/per, but they won’t ship.

Seems like they have gotten a bit better over time. At least, there are progressively better reviews of both the lights and customer service as time goes on. Still, seems like the light pattern isn’t the greatest, though it would probably be substantially better than my horrible fogged and cracked lenses:

yeah i guess light output isn’t the best, but to be honest it’s fine for me, i’ve never wished that my lights were brighter at any point

I'm honestly struggling to find a pair of new TRD Pro lights, so may end up with Alpha's. Going to keep looking, but may end up with a pair of those. I'll have a 30" light bar mounted in my new bumper, so output won't be a really big problem. Though, I would like solid low beams as well.

you can always just throw new bulbs in them, i’ve heard if people doing thag and it working well, in regards to light bar, a good pair of fogs goes a long way too

Meh, my stock headlights are in really, really ugly shape. They were recently polished and fogged back up within a few weeks. The plastic is cracked, one of the DRLs just doesn't work, etc. I'd rather just replace them completely.

I'm planning on running a pair of Diode Dynamics SSC2's and a pair of SSC3's (both SAE fog in yellow) in my bumper, as well as the 30" bar that will come on with the high beams--plus a pair of SSC1 ditch lights that should, hopefully, go on this week or next. I'm guessing I'll have plenty of light. Still, I think I'd take the TRD Pro headlights if I can find them. If I can't, I think I'll just order the Alpha's and probably be fine. Generally not going over 45mph where I live (tiny island with no stop lights or highways).

Actually searching with the part number is pulling them up for ~$200 each. Think I'll go this direction with the lower wattage version of the ultimate headlight upgrade and LED DRLs and signals.

Edit: ordered the TRD Pro headlights, Phillips racing vision bulbs and LEDs for the indicators, DRLs, etc.

Please reconsider the light bar when on the road. They are blinding to oncoming drivers. This appears to be a new tuner style around my area. No need for them on the road.

It will really only be used when the brights are on. I wouldn't use them any other way. Also to flash the jerks that do drive around with light bars on

Curious what the non-harnessed ultimate headlight mod is?

Likely using the best available bulbs on the market for low beam, such as the Philips Racing +200 H4 bulbs. Massive improvement over stock without needing a harness.

I have the phillips +100 and i can say that is a massive improvement already, i can't imagine what the +200 output look like.
