Hey guys! So I'm starting to look into replacing my rear leaf springs... They're starting to be a little bit more frowny than smiley and I'm noticing a tiny bit of sag that never used to be there. I've been trying to research some new leaf springs but it seems like everyone upgrades their leaf springs for towing/hauling to accommodate their lift, which is not my case. I never haul more than 100lbs of stuff in my bed and want to ditch my 2-inch blocks (while keeping the same amount of lift) in the process of just getting new, refreshed leafs. Does anybody have any suggestions?

I did get recommended to a local shop in Sacramento that builds custom leaf packs but apparently, it's somewhat pricey.

Have you gotten the recall leaf springs? It could get you a new set for free if you haven't done it yet.

Leaf spring helpers may work..about $30 at the part store if your not into towing and on a budget..might just be enough for your purposes..

I’ve looked into those and I think I just want to replace the entire packs… I’ve replaced the whole front so I’m ready to do the back now as well

It was a factory recall. They were having issues with some individual leaf springs breaking if I recall correctly. Have your local dealship check their records and see if your vehicle got the leaf spring recall work done before you bought it. Regardless of who the current owner is they will know if it's been done. If not, you should be able to get a brand new set of rear leaf springs at no cost to you. I have an 08 Sport 4x4, and mine were done just a couple of years ago.

The recall is still going so just taking it to a local dealer to check if it was still done won't hurt. I got my 07 used and was able to get my leaf springs replaced last year for free.

Rear blocks are the worst route to lift a truck and will accelerate leaf spring wear and promote axle wrap. There are many options depending on your budget. Cheapest would be a progressive 3 leaf aal to a more pricier full leaf pack replacement that comes in different load applications. If you do end up with fresh springs with the recall and still need a small lift, I would look into a progressive 3-leaf aal for a softer ride vs a single aal.

Yeah I bought blocks as it was really all I could afford at the time but I’m little wiser with a little more jingle in my pocket now haha. I’ll look into the recall… If I can’t get the recall would you recommend getting a stock leaf pack and AAL or getting an aftermarket pack with the lift I want? Just going for the same 2 in. lift to level it all out.

I would go with a full aftermarket leaf pack replacement. I run the medium duty ironman4x4 leaf packs for many years now with no issues. Ride quality is good with no squeaks along with approximately 2" of lift. I will replace with the same ones when mine wears out.

Alcan. Check their website, they are really helpful and will make sure you get what you need. You will need to get under the truck and do some measurements.

If the truck has not had the leafs replaced under recall, the dealer may try to get out of it if your suspension is not stock. I know the local dealer grilled me hard when I had the recall done about any suspension modification, seemingly with the intention of getting out of the recall.

Icon RXT. On option 1 you’ll get about 2” of lift and can ditch the blocks. Also nice to have flexibility for the other options if you ever add a cap or anything else heavy on a permanent basis.

Got my med duty ironman leafs installed and it has a great ride now, apprently I had a broken leaf per side. Got a nice lift and eliminated the squatting. I have a topper and sleep platform and maybe 100 lbs of gear at least at all times

I went to a local heavy duty truck spring shop and they ordered me some leaf packs from Dayton springs and they made the unbolts for it. The leaf packs where heavy duty compared to my factory ones 3 leaf’s and a helper . I spent about 459 on all of it and installed them myself. Also upgraded shocks to 5100 . Im happy with it so far .

The icon rxt leaf pack is good and adjustable for your weight.
