I took advantage of the Toyota tire sale and got a set of BFG KO2's for my truck. Went with the "plus one" size (265/75/16) and they look and fit great. Definitely a firmer ride with the heavier E load rated tire, but I like it. And so far no real discernible impact to my gas mileage. But i will need a few more data points before I claim victory there as it is a heavier tire than the stock Goodyear kevlars I took off. IMG-20220422-WA0000.jpg

I went up to that size with some Falkens and lost 2-3 MPG. That was with a lead foot though, I had to learn to drive lighter.
    Totally worth it.

Did a black-out of all the exterior chrome and installed the letter inserts. Since it's a SR it was just the badging on the tailgate.

Nice work. This is definitely a PITA for something that should be easier. The video on Tacoma Lifestyle makes it look easy. I lost my 10mm socket into the abyss. My biggest advice for anyone doing this is to use Scotch tape to tape the nut to the socket when putting them back on. You're basically doing it blind putting it back on.

The trim piece makes it look better. I have a 21 and they wouldn't sell it to me when I called around to local dealers. Found it on Walmart. Should be here next week.

Looks great! I’d almost rather have no badging instead of chrome so it’s nice there are options!

Looks and sounds like I used a brand new cutting wheel. Left all the red paint on the pipe!

I did remove the hooks. I then started to remove the pillars. wound up deforming a plastic grommet in the process. Still no luck. the only way I see it done right is dropping the liner. There video is VERY misleading on the install. I've done my share of mods so I'm comfortable tinkering. The juice was just not worth the squeeze for me on this one.

Thanks for all the info… when I first bought and drove my sky silver truck from Nor Cal down to So Cal, the glare was unbearable. Funny thing is, since that first drive, the glare hasn’t bothered me again. I’m still gathering ideas in case it ever comes back and yours is towards the top of the list.

Did this on day 2 with my new to me 2019. Baby steps headed towards getting this rig ready to leave the pavement. Had a couple beers and forgot the thing laying on MY side of the driveway....wife came home late and wasn't amused, lolairdam.jpg

    Oh look, another mod....
Sorry to hear that man. If you want the name of a shop that can install a Cat Security plate let me know and I can hook you up. I'm glad I left apartment life behind.
