Looks and sounds like I used a brand new cutting wheel. Left all the red paint on the pipe!

I did remove the hooks. I then started to remove the pillars. wound up deforming a plastic grommet in the process. Still no luck. the only way I see it done right is dropping the liner. There video is VERY misleading on the install. I've done my share of mods so I'm comfortable tinkering. The juice was just not worth the squeeze for me on this one.

Thanks for all the info… when I first bought and drove my sky silver truck from Nor Cal down to So Cal, the glare was unbearable. Funny thing is, since that first drive, the glare hasn’t bothered me again. I’m still gathering ideas in case it ever comes back and yours is towards the top of the list.

Did this on day 2 with my new to me 2019. Baby steps headed towards getting this rig ready to leave the pavement. Had a couple beers and forgot the thing laying on MY side of the driveway....wife came home late and wasn't amused, lolairdam.jpg

No city council. It’s an unincorporated town. Some of the streets just turn into sand and the county tells the residents if they want it paved they will have to hire a company and pay for it themselves.

Maybe not all of you can appreciate this but I know my fellow cyclists can. Finally got my One Up USA heavy duty double. While I can fit my 29er on its side in the long bed, any more bikes means I’m pulling front wheels. So much more convenient! Also love how it’s compact and maintains good ground clearance.

I am actually leaning toward going with a Y pipe and just nuking the other one that they left behind. Lead times may prevent that though.

Thanks! Yeah taping the nut would help to keep it in place. In my case I put a little dab of lithium grease as suggested by one guy here to help the nut stay in place. I then grabbed the socket with the nut in it, aligned and pressed it against the hole to keep the nut from falling. Took the light and inserted the threaded bolt in the hole. Then started turning the socket slowly to thread the nut a couple of turns then did the other bolt the same way. Did not drop any socket but I did drop the two 10 mm nuts when I removed them. I hope the light will last forever.:D Cos I do not want to do this again! It looks good tho compared to the oem one IMO. And I bought it cheaper on Amazon.Ca!

I just did mine yesterday without removing the pillars. It is indeed a major PITA! My technique IMHO is better than screwing the nut blind to the bolt. ( post # 235379) I did the “ screwing the nut blindly” to the bolt and I gave up. You can easily drop a socket and or the nut when you do this.
