I'm sure that's true, but it's just one more reason a grumpy tech could deny a warranty repair.

The only reason I back amsoil is my brothers 97 Ford powestroke is over 700,000 miles using amsoil products so that's my leverage

If you pay the $25 and subscribe as a member to Amsoil it’s a lot cheaper…like $4-$6/quart

I know there are millions of transfer cases around the world that have lasted decades with ATF in them.

Well what I was wondering if anyone replaced those front differential 10mm hex bolts with standard bolts similar to the transfer case and rear differential so you don't have to worry about stripping out the hex hole if the key isn't completely in all the way. That was all I was getting at. Yeah I will see how much they are at the dealer when I go on Monday for my other parts.

Is it okay to refill front diff and transfer case with front end of truck on jack stands, or should I wait until truck frontend is back on ground and truck is level before I refill both? Its currently on jack stands on front end as I have been working on the brakes.

I don’t think it’s the tech who decides warranty claims and how can someone tell the difference in oil without testing?

Yep. I get your point. I’m the minority who actually prefers the 10mm hex better.

Fill them with the truck level. Getting the correct amount back in there is dependent on the fluid running out of the fill hole when it’s full. If it’s not level then you will be over or under filling by some amount.

Any one here try the bmw transfer fluid or its equivalent S-tec oil0005. Buddy of mine at his shop has been using it, says its fine in these tacos.

And those transfer cases were designed to use ATF as the lubricant.

    3ed gen Tacoma isn't.

I know this is an old thread, but I was doing research on if 75w oil was really needed for the transfer case so I called my local Toyota dealer. I live in Winnipeg, Canada and the dealer here said they do not even have the 75W ever in stock, he did a search for me and informed me there isn't even any available in any Toyota dealership in Canada! He told me they use 75w-85 or 75w-90 in all of their transfer cases. This is in line with what another member said on this thread as well. Judging by this I would say it's probably fine to use 75w-85/90 in the transfer case.
