It's not macho bullshit. It's that shit ain't needed. A 4.7 liter Taco Sport is needed. The supercharger should come standard on the Xrunner. .
That shit you all want will come on the next one, (they're reading us now) and if it doesn't it was probably to far fetched to begin with. So shoot for the moon not just a bunch of wires and switches that can be installed by the local stereo tech.
The 5.7 Tundra comes with headers, headers from the factory. Why not my 4.0? Standard dual exit exhaust on 6 cyl cars. Why not my 6 cyl Tacoma? How about Full, er, all wheel drive, whatever time 4x4?
    Now those are improvements.

Stock audio sucks. Forget an Mp3 jack just add a different deck. Bose stereo or Infinity would of been nice. As far as seats go I think the seats are damn comfortable, so comfortable I've fell asleep at the wheel. Just if they were leather.

Toyota's been spending too much time on the Tundra and not enough time on the Tacoma. If all the other vehicles have these options - why haven't they implemented them in the Tacoma? For Gawd Sake, these trucks still have rear drum brakes!? These options are things people are willing to BUY as an option...... If you wanna win customers, you gotta keep up with and surpass the other manufacturers in options and retain the same level of Toyota quality from years past.

It's obvious - toyota quality of years past (in the tacomas) is slipping (weak tailgates, weak leaf springs, clutch complaints, lurch complaints, etc).

I still love the truck - I would've paid $$ for all the options people have already mentioned. I want my cake and eat it to.

its not a macho thing, i just dont need all those options so i dont want to pay for them. I told them if a tape deck was an option i would take that since i didnt want to pay for a cd player. All i cared about was the mechanical aspect of the truck, anything else can be changed in the future. My truck is still way more plush than my old beamer so i'm happy.

Janster: i have to agree with you. The Tacoma does seem to be getting ignored. They just revamped the Tundra and Camry and the Taco is getting the short end of the stick.

I don't think so, look at the changes made from the first gen to the second gen, total make over. Now they will keep it this way for a while and in the mean time it's the Tundras turn. They will probably have a redesign in 2010 when I hope they introduce the diesel version.

A total make-over that they rushed to complete and get it out on the market.

I'd much rather take a solid & reliable truck OVER interior comforts anyday. Not only are we lacking in creature comforts that already exist in other toyota vehicles, but these trucks are also lacking in quality.

Obviously, they know HOW to 'get it right' (past toyota history) - it's they haven't given the tacoma designers/engineers ENOUGH time to 'get it right' in the form of develope/testing/research of a totally new truck.

I'm guessing you have more problems than I have had. My truck runs great and is solid. It also has everything I need in a truck; A/C, a sturdy bed, good towing capacity, strong motor, great suspension, reliability, a decent radio, and power windows. Personally I don't need a GPS (got maps), or DVD players, or factory installed IPod outlets (can do it myself if I feel the need), or heated seats (but I live in TX), or turn signals on my mirrors (I already know which way I'm turning) ect... In all actuality the Tacoma already comes with a few things I don't need such as the compass and temp gauge (as I said before I live in TX, it's hot, that’s all I need to know), and a power outlet in the bed (which is a cool idea but I have still not used it) oh yah and the nine or so cup holders (I prefer a cooler in the bed for long trips).

TRDeity mentioned the one thing i REALLY wish toyota had. An in bed cooler! The Ridgline has it and that the only thing about that truck that i like. Thats my new answer, i would rather have an inbed, locking cooler than a winch!

Oh, you mean something like the overhead compass/temp gauge which you can't buy without taking out a loan?

Ok, i think maybe i was wrong. I only admit that once every decade or so, so you may want to bookmark this page cause it will probably never happen again. Toyota gave me a very well equiped Camry to drive around till i get my truck back. I like it, alot. It's way underpowered but i like the interior. I think i'm getting spoiled. The inside is just nice, and feels way more refined than what i'm use to. I know its a car and i have a truck, but i could definately get use to all the features. I dont know that i would pay the original cost of the truck, plust whatever it would cost for it to have these features, but it would be nice if they came standard like they do in the higher end Camry. I dont need all the bells and whistles, but i wouldnt mind having a few.... God i hate admitting that. so there, i was wrong, i'm adminting it, now shut up and leave me alone! And dont get use to it!

I wont repeat everything everyone has put here already. Pretty much all suggestions are great, and I thinkn there are quite a few small things that could be done to make these trucks amazing.

The thing that bothers me (I've only had the trcuk about 1 week), are the windows. I had an '01 VW GTI, and the window controls had auto UP AND DOWN for both windows. I mean - how hard would that be. You already made it for one window, just use the same damn switch for the other window. And why have auto down ,and not have auto up?? Just doenst make much sense to me. Other than that I love the truck!!

Yeah, my wife's 06' RAV4 has the same thing - so does my mom's 04' Golf TDI. I would love to have that in my truck - so simple.

No problems with my truck either...... I simply cruise the forums and read complaints from others. My truck is only 6 months old (to me) and was built last November. I bought a 96 tacoma in 99 and owned it till 2004. That truck was an offroading machine atleast once a month for 3 years straight and never had one lick of problems with it. Honestly - Do I expect this 2007 to be the same? Hell yeah!! That's why I bought it in the first place - toyota reliability. The fact that there's a lot of complaints out there does indeed concern me.... and it tells me that toyota quality is indeed slipping.
I've been luck so far <knock on wood>

I don't necessarily need creature comforts either, but once you've owned vehicles that have all the goodies - you get used to having them and you miss 'em when you don't have 'em. Each time I buy a vehicle (per say), I want more and more and more. I would've paid BIG BUCKS to have this truck fully loaded similar to most luxery cars....because I've earned my $$ and damnit, I wanna spoil myself!:D
