    Still figuring it out…
Hello everyone, D20EFB5D-06A2-43AF-9023-B2EBB30AC919.jpg 75C29ED9-424C-4481-8A07-1E4965B3896F.jpg F3CC512C-29AF-4F9D-A8FB-37F3EF75F5F4.jpg I included some pictures of my 1”spacer and rear leaf springs, 7 total which is what 1.5” rear lift? aal, stock? Idk. I want to replace the spacer and add 5100’s all around with new strut mounts and keep the stock coils if I can to keep cost down for now. Been spending to much according to the wife lol and she’s kinda right I’ll admit it but if I keep them for now what size should they be on? .85, 1.75 I was thinking since it’s a 1” spacer or 2.5? Pics shows slight rake but sits nice to me from side view. Sorry only pictures I have so far. I do plan on towing a jon boat this summer as well. My rear suspension, what is that called and I’m assuming it’s a aal 1.5” lift, can’t be stock. I’m clueless on that lol . Just seeing if this will be an alright setup to do and what the front shocks should be set at. Thanks everyone, I really do appreciate all the help and advice so far. I’m learning, slowly! but I’m learning

Looks to me like you got a leveling spacer up front and an aal in the rear. If you reuse the stock coils with the 5100's there's a chance that they might not perform as well because of how long they've been under that spacer. If anything they might just sag a little bit. I did something similar when I first bought my truck and it did sag a little, but nothing too crazy.

With an AAL in the rear you have close to 2 or 2 1/2 inches up front to keep it level. Looks good.

Been looking around and I think the OME 885 will be alright to use and would get rid of that spacer and lift it with the spring and set the 5100 at 0. This correct and good way to do it?

So, my take is NOT the popular consensus here on TW. I have a set up exactly like what you have. Been running it for a few years. I went this way to calm the wife down and do some researched based on what my actual needs were going to be. I tow a 5 x 10 trailer all spring and then go do multiday offroad trips however and where ever I can-3 plus 2000 mile trips a year minimum. I do relatively hard (not extreme) off roading. It seems that the set up I/we have is doomed to fail and we will probably die (drama emphasis here...) per the TW family. Has not been my experience. When the time comes for me to move up to 35's I will go with a new set up in the front to get to the magical 3" of lift. That is the number:3". Over that you need to change out for adjustable struts and different UCA's etc. I have not seen the need yet... and maybe I am missing out on an amazing ride improvement and off-roading capability; but, honestly, the truck is still way more capable than I am fearless... I am looking at Dobisons components for that upgrade when it happens.

At present I am finishing the backend first, as I am not made of money and it is where all of my problems so far have originated. I am going to buy some custom Alcan springs this summer. Already put a fancy bump stop with bolt flip on and what a difference that made! Wow! That was way worth the cost. Also changed out the drive shaft for a Tom Woods one piece. Again a big improvement.

So the take away? My experience has been-this set up works fine. It is safe, I am within the parameters of the OEM suspension components and, ultimately I don't know any better. But it works. Not as cool. But it works. Affordable too. Your mileage may vary.

Might I suggest having a look in the 3rd gen marketplace for a set of stock take offs from someone that's installed a lift. They're an inch taller than your stock, and essentially a straight swap for the spring and spacer you've got now. I got a pair from a sport for cheap cheap...

I did this with the icon 3 leaf aal and 5100s all around. I got an inch up front, 1.5 in the back, (w/o the bottom overload leaf) and I'm mclovin' it.

I just wanna get rid of the spacer and was hoping to keep the same stance it has with upgrading to the 5100’s. Will they need to be maxed out at 2.5 for it to have that look on stock.

I'm set on the bottom position and got the inch lift from the springs. Exactly what you've got with the spacer. Maybe a lil more as the 3rd gen springs won't have the milage on them that yours do.

Ok great news, so any year 3rd gen stock spring will work and give me that added 1” lift to get rid of that spacer and put in 5100’s.

Found a set of front and rears with 150 miles on them from a guy on FB Marketplace for 100 bucks. Have had them a year and haven't gotten around to installing...

Keep your eyes peeled on your local FB marketplaces OfferUp Craigslist etc, and check the regional sections on TW. Way more convenient to be able to pick up localish.

Geez ya I’d say that’s a great deal, I’ll have to keep my eyes open and hopefully something pops up, why haven’t you installed them yet?

Haven't quite found the time and my stockies have a bit more life left in them. Just rolled over 70k- it'll happen soon.

So I’m purchasing a complete set of 3rd gen OR takeoff, meeting him this Sunday. So after doing some research will I need a 1/2” spacer to achieve the look it has now with the new shocks? I have an inch spacer now so wouldn’t that mean it raises the front up 2 inches now? I know the new shock will raise the front an inch due to the spring weight. Why I figure the 1/2” spacer with give me that extra 1” compared to where it sits at now. Is this correct?

Yes. I used a 3/4 spacer with OR take offs. It will settle. I am running 33's on OR take off 16" wheels. I have an AAL in back . Truck has slight rake. A picture to see what you may get:

Great, I was hoping not to have the damn spacer anymore after I get the new shocks. Oh well I guess, I don’t do much off roading anyways. Thanks for the pic, think I’ll stick with a 1/2” spacer to get me that 1” I’m searching for
