Hey all, new member here based in Hawaii. I'm moving on from my 2017 Toyota 86 to a 3rd Gen Tacoma.

I recently put a deposit in for an 22' Toyota Tacoma Army Green DCSB ORP on 4/04/2022 and I called my salesperson yesterday and he's told me my order has been placed, but it hasn't reached production yet. I guess my question is how long did it take for you all to get your orders into production and when does Toyota actually start working on new batches of Tacomas?

I’m happy for you and I hate you.

I think I need to start looking past bordering states and look at NM. I’ve got a deposit at two dealers and this talk about MT’s going away has me worried.

I'm in Albuquerque and I think you'll have better luck finding something somewhere else. I purchase in Las Vegas NV. Check out the allocation spreadsheet:
    https://flatgithub.com/kissmygritts...578&sort=vehicle,desc&stickyColumnName=dealer

if you find something you like you can cross reference and find the dealership here:

    Good luck finding something!

I had a deposit down at a local dealer but thr waiting game and uncertainty was just too much. I tried searching multiple dealers websites but the vehicles were always sold. I found myself wanting to settle for a short bed, other colors, etc, out of desperation. A friend pushed me into making my own luck by hunting other states using autotrader instead.

It turns out that autotrader automatically gets a list of allocated vehicles (before they have been built). vehicles that are allocated before the dealers even have a chance to go thru them. Take the temp VIN from autotrader and look it up in the vspec page and you can find out if they are pre-sold or not by looking at the json in the page source. Its discussed here google will find it for you. I found one which wasnt pre-sold and snagged it within 30 minutes of finding it! I told them I would split the market adjustment but they only took off 1k. Better than nothing and better than living with a color I didnt want and a short bed because I wanted to sleep back there.

I'm in Florida and found the exact truck I wanted (ORDCLB) allocated to a VA dealer scheduled to be bult 5/19. The drive will suck but at least its the exact truck I want and driving it thru the mountians on the way back to flatistan will be fun.

IsPreSold is not always accurate, so if it says false it could still be presold.

Take this with a grain of salt. My build, which I have a signed purchase agreement for, shows "false" listed in the presale. I tried looking up other temp VINs using this method as well and when I contact the dealers, they are all already reserved/sold. Only one I found that was listed as false presale was available...then the dealer wanted ~$14k above MSRP for it.

picked up my TRD OR M/T yesterday!

    3/02 - Tacoma was built
3/26 - Called dealer to see if they had any available tacomas. Put my name down for this one. Apparently they didn't know they were getting allocated this one till a few days before I called. Sends me permanent VIN
    3/30 - VSPEC status goes from "A" to "F"
    4/18 - VSPEC status goes from "F" to "G"
4/20 - Dealer calls me says the truck is ready to be picked up

Not even a month of a wait. I called every dealership in a 500 mile radius. Persistence paid off this time!

Did a 220 mile drive from the dealership to get home. Averaged 23.5 mpg. That was with constantly shifting gears and keeping varying speeds from 50-65 mph making sure to break it in properly keeping rpm's low.. going through 2 dozen smaller towns and cities, hilly terrain, and a heavy 20-30 mph cross/head wind. I'm very impressed :D

Good luck guys... I hope you all get yours sooner than expected. This one was suppose to be coming this coming weekend but came 10 days early.

Toyota does not take special orders, they put in request and sometimes get requested vehicles in their allocations. I would recommend getting clarification. if they just submitted it as a request you might want to check around with other dealers. If its already allocated to them than there is a better chance they will get it.

Which location? I recommend you talk to your salesman again, they should be able to give you a planned production month. I went through Windward in January with a planned production for April, which then got slid to July.

Hawaii is kind of an exception to that since they are not part of Toyota USA. Also, only one dealer over here with several locations; they all work the same for “orders”.

Anyone know what symbols in left column of the kissmygritts site mean? They show as a “+”, “-“, “[*]”?

    Mine in dealerCategory says "F"
    hold status says Dealerhold
    ispresold:false
    istempVIN:false

What does that all mean? I know the F means it's in freight, but am concerned about the other stuff.
