I had a great weekend, thanks again for coming out guys!

 

Was a great weekend indeed. I was happy to really get some miles on the van too as I'm learning how much I can trust my fuel gauge. From Boise to Spokane and back to Lewiston the van did 13.3mpg which means I still had about 200 miles of range left of course that's uncorrected mileage and doesn't account for tire size or furnace burn. Not bad for a truck that clocked in at 10,000lbs even on the scales yesterday.

Planning more sight seeing trip with camping. That being said, anyone got any dispersed camp spots they'd be willing to share? Or area for us to check out that will have dispersed sights. Whether be PM or in here. I've been googling some too

Man that's really early. A lot of really good stuff just won't be open yet. Beartooth highway won't even be open.

Especially with these last two spring storms. Which hopefully continue to come as we need the snow.

Is there still a lot of snow on the ground up there? Granted, we are pretty dry down here right now, but haven't had snow on the ground below 8000' ish in weeks.

yeah we just got like 4' of snow above 8000' id say. Up hear spring snow is a big thing. The highways will be fine. But most camp grounds won't even be open. Especially in Yellowstone but you can check online. Campgrounds need a reservation in the park anyways.

But looking at that doesn't look like most open until June. Most things don't open up hear until after memorial day due to staffing and snow. Beartooth Highway for instance is always attempted to be open by that weekend.

Might have better luck in the National forest surrounding the park. But most have a lot of resorts and few camp grounds which likely also won't be open until memorial day.

There is no offroading at all in the park. All the offroading near it will be totally snowed in. So it'll for sure be a site seeing trip. Still be awesome. But you're not going to do any offroading. They keep the trails closed until late June early July to account for snow to keep damage to a minimum in the alpine tundra.
