I have the factory lift and Rokblokz XLs on mine. They look good (IMHO), provide paint protection, and aren't made of rubber (or rubber like material). I had rally armor flaps on my Forester that were regularly ripped off when going in reverse off road. I do think flaps are worth it. YMMV though.

I bought my truck December 2020 and immediately it started snowing every week. That brought the rock salt that flung everywhere. Decided I needed flaps. I went with the Tufskinz mainly because of the oldschool looking 4WD logo on them.

Rock chips have decreased substantially. They've held up pretty good, but I do very little "offroading"...

I installed Rokblokz, they keep the truck much cleaner and far less rocks/mud hitting the truck. I also believe in mud flaps for keeping rocks and crap off other peoples vehicles.
The hardware they come with either has to be replaced or painted black. Overall quality is fine and install was simple.

My 2019 Tacoma TRD LB 4x4 …came with NO factory mud flaps….NONE…. Years ago my lifted Dodge Ram was required to have mud flaps and a reverse beeper…. Today Recon rules change…

Do you remember those wire feelers ..near the mud flaps ..I believe were called Curb feelers…? I think most of the younger people have NO idea…?

To all the “Mud flappers”…. Enjoy the many kinds, sizes, colors, wordings…. Any unique ones? Pictures please! Aloha

Any additional thoughts on OEM vs Rekgen? Are the Rekgens the same size?

Amazon has Rek Gen mud flaps and all the info you need…Reg and Extra large ( 1 inch bigger). Looks like they had several colors…OEM fits…
For th prices…it must be a high quality product…? And seems well known by many other users…
Amazon has many after market OEM style mud flaps…read the reviews.. many prices from low to high..
Not sure status if a name brand for mud flaps are that important? Now if had “ diamonds and gold trim….whew! Lol
    Aloha,

Just a thought ? Does the Tacoma Pro & TRD’s don’t add factory mud flaps because of the fender flares?

Those that did install aftermarket mud flaps..found it help protect the truck body more..then without..

For my self ..off roading with the mud flaps on can get rip off ..especially in reversing…so I prefer NOT using them..
Rocks & debris may cause some damages… is something you have to expect when off roading…

    I got them for Safety check inspections…once a year…
    Aloha

Just go to big ass tires and you'll cut off everywhere to even mount mudflaps too.

Wish I had removed them years ago. They’ve dug right deep into the paint. This is from the front mud guards.02009C50-001D-46F2-983E-27DDF9FF5EBE.jpg

Exactly. I put on a set of no-drill Weathertech's on mine about a month after I got my truck. (Great fit and great quality BTW)
Yup, you'll save your paint, it's a lot easier to wash your truck... And we've all to often seen the guy with the XXXXXXX with big-ass tires and a 5" lift, with no flaps, leaving a wake of people making appointments for a new windshield... You don't wanna be that guy.

LOL! Yeah, I remember curb feelers... Very popular in the 50-60's. My mom used to call them 'Cat Whiskers'.
My dad had them on his various cars throughout the years. I'm pretty sure it was because he was tired of buying new hubcaps after mom borrowed the car for the day. o_O

I wanted the oem ones but mine didn't come through with any. I drive on some dirt and gravel roads sometimes to get to camping and hiking & bike trails but mostly I'm on paved roads. It protects the paint so it's worth.

I got flat Toughskinz ones in black with the cement 4WD logo to match my trucks color.
I like them. They were less than the oem ones and shipped faster than the dealership could have them in.

Now that I see the one post where the oem ones dug in to the dudes white paint I'm even more happy with my choice.

I went with Rekgens on my Tacoma when I went to a different wheel and larger tire. The work well. I would probably take them off for any difficult off-roading but for dirt roads and even our crappy city streets it helps with rocks and general mess.

    20191116_101849.jpg

These are just the standard size pushed out but they do have larger versions available. They are flexible to some degree more so than the stock ones that were on the truck when I got it.

Dang tacomaworld is making me buy crap again. :annoyed:

Need a set of rears, I'm tired of pounding gravel into the trailer. Serious question - what makes RekGen so great?

    Like 140 bucks great?

    upload_2022-4-25_7-31-10.jpg

    Well, aside from this:

    upload_2022-4-25_7-34-28.jpg

If I just want a card-style flap, why not get the Tufskinz for 40 per axle and get all the mall-crawler compliments for half the price?
