A lot of interesting points in this thread. Luckily, I have a buddy in the auto body business. I'll probably end up getting an OEM scooped hood, painted , installed for around 1300$. Hopefully I'll get a few bucks for my non scooped hood to recoup some coin.

Where are you located? I’m pulling my excellent condition, genuine TRD Pro hood in cement color with OEM Toyota paint protection film and TRD decal off tomorrow. Can keep/resell your hood.

    Location Seattle, WA.

TRD Pro hood is now off the truck. If anyone in the Seattle area is looking for a cement scooped hood with paint protection film and TRD pro graphics send me a PM.

    Excellent condition. Asking 1k OBO.

TRD Pro hood sold! That was freaking fast and a very good reason these don’t exist on the used market period.

Yep. But ditch light brackets first. As those will set the hood off alignment a bit.

Trade non-scoop hood plus cash for scooped hood.
Literally just got a brand new hood installed from dealership all OEM parts and paint matched, old hood had minor rock damage so insurance covered it.

I tried trust me, my insurance refused and the body shop at the Toyota dealership would not work with me. People seem to not enjoy there jobs anymore and are willing to do zero extra work to help anyone out no matter how polite and respectful you are. I tried in person and calling a couple weeks later, they gave me the run around saying insurance will not pay them for repairs until the work in complete and they can’t write an invoice “like that” and after calling my insurance they basically told me the same exact thing. I’ve done something like that in the past when I got in an accident and it was someone else’s fault and their insurance just cut me a check but this damage was filed under vandalism and isn’t collision. I think it went under comprehensive and so my own insurance is covering it and the process was a real pain in the butt. A lot of back and frothing between the body shop at the dealer and insurance. Going to be finding a new insurance company after this.

Definitely seems harder to trade a flat hood for a scooped one. I've been looking for months to trade my 22 flat, lunar Rock hood for a scooped one and I'm in California.

I can kind of see why they do this. If you have say a $500 deductible, and decide to vandalize your own hood to get a $1500 scooped hood for just the cost of the deductible then they would have many people doing that. Just because it’s insurance fraud, that doesn’t mean people wouldn’t do it.
