Update: I’ve ridden the Harley and Indian. I think I’ve moved on from HD, and not sure about the Indian. I’d like to ride the BMW R1250RT and K1600 GTL or Grand America.

The other option was/is the FJR. There are 2 available near me, but their bags won’t ship until later this year/maybe next year

There is very little in my area that meet my admittedly narrow criteria.

The 1250RT will blow anything Harley or Indian offers out of the water. It’s an entirely different class of ride quality, build quality and performance that those American style cruisers can’t come close to touching.

Exactly what I’m hoping for. I’m looking for more of major upgrade from my current ride than a completely different animal.

The American cruisers are soooooooooo comfortable to ride, though, but they’re really different in almost every way.

I mentioned earlier in this thread that I would post up about the SPOT track link and how I do it.

There are 2 things you need to do this. First, some form of a tracking device. These started off with the actual SPOT tracking devices. These are an awesome device that actually use satellites and therefore work in areas where there is zero cell service available. It works anywhere on the planet for that matter. Drawback to this device is that you must pay an annual subscription fee which now runs around $150 per year or more in addition to the cost of the device. SPOT runs rebates fairly often so if you shop carefully, you can get the device itself almost for free. A big plus however is a one touch 911 button that works worldwide by immediately contacting emergency services sending help to your GPS coordinates and contacting an emergency contact on your behalf. You can also use an app on your phone to track you which uses the internal GPS of the phone to track you. The app for Android that I use is BubblerGPS. I'm not an iPhone user but think the iPhone app of choice is SWConnect. I use the paid PRO version of Bubbler as it allows shorter intervals between sending a signal, allows me to take photos within the app, and has some other advantages over the free version. It doesn't hurt that I've met the app developer and found he's another long distance motorcyclist so I'm more than happy to pay and help fund his rides. When I bought the app it was around $10 and a one time purchase.

The second thing you need is to set up an account on Spotwalla.com. For years this was a free service but sadly the owner had to begin charging a subscription fee just this year. The fee varies depending upon how much you use the service. For most "average" users who track a few trips per year and share the info with family and some friends you can expect to pay about $26 per year. Spotwalla is the service that actually takes all of the pings from your tracking device and overlays them onto a map for people to see. It allows users to embed pictures on the site and lets you post messages explaining what you're doing or exactly where you are.

I saw comments thinking I planned my fuel stops. On a rally I might but on vacation I don't. All I do when we stop for gas is open the Bubbler app and push the button for fuel which tells Spotwalla the stop is for fuel. There is a button in the app for food stops, fuel, rest stop like hotel or done for the day, police interactions LOL, and custom that you can set up for stuff like bonus stops during rallies.

Sorry if this post is a little long winded but wanted to let you know how I posted the link and hope everyone enjoyed following along.

Can't go wrong with the FJR platform! I'm well over 150k on them so far. I wouldn't even worry about buying a new one. Used ones can save you a bunch of money and mileage on these bikes is a non issue for a well maintained example. I know of quite a few owners with over 100k on them. Several with over 200k and at least one with over 400k. Should you decide to investigate the FJR just PM me and I'll giver you as much help as possible with what to look for and any issues to watch out for.

@Fulton246 - Here is a pic of my r/r. Any reason it wouldn't be plug-n-play? Keep reading threads where guys are soldering, redoing connectors, hardwiring directly to the battery, etc. I want no part of that as my electrical knowledge is shaky at best...

Very nice! It like the Tacoma has probably appreciated (or at least hasn't sunk in value.) Imagine since you made the investment required to acquire it ($$$$) you're fully aware that it's one of the very few RV manufacturers that hold their value. I originally asked if you pulled that big girl w/your Tacoma but after looking up the specs I already have the answer!

I haven't owned a bigfoot yet.. but I've tried a few times. The smaller used ones sell in hours vs days.

The one made by Rick's Motorsport Electric should be plug-n-play: - https://ricksmotorsportelectrics.com/OEM-Style-Triumph-Rectifier-Regulator-10_022

I don't think you need the harness extender but would contact the vendor or look through triumphrat forums to make sure.

    Okay, thanks! Also, whut??? :D

I may just buy the r/r upgrade and, if/when I have the suspension done, tell them to install at that time. I did find out both forks are leaking a bit, so no riding until they are fixed...

Because I’m a spoiled BMW rider I ordered the new phone cradle that utilizes the GPS mount. It integrates the phone into the bikes’s handle bar controls for navigation and has wireless charging. Never know when you’ll need a fully charged phone and directions to the nearest Starbucks. In reality it will replace my out of date Zumo 660 with an easier to use setup.

Weather is finally taking a turn for the better here, I took advantage and went for a fairly quick ride today. Of the 50ish miles probably 15-20 of it was on gravel or dirt. Only had 1 butt clenching moment of gravel trying to catch and throw my front wheel to the side at about 40mph.

Hoping to keep doing more gravel and dirt rides and get back into that groove on the weekends and *maybe* do the WABDR in early-mid July.

Pretty sure it works like the Tesla auto summon feature. I have an R though not a GS so I didn't get that feature.
