Thank you! I cringe every time I hear or see someone reference a millimeter as a "mil".

Direct from the manufacturer. I believe they are called Foshan Precision Metal Works based somewhere in China.

I personally always regret a purchase when I try to save money by going for the copy. I had a faux skid plate in my ebay cart several times before I went for the real one. I'd rather pay the extra money to guaranty good quality and fit.

$800? I got my OEM skid plate for $300 shipped directly from a Toyota dealer.

Sometimes a copy is quite the value for the money. I got my skid plate for a little more than half off the price of OEM. Other examples of a copy being a better value is the TSS sensor garnish for the TRD Pro, OEM is like $275 for a piece of plastic... when you can get a copy for $20.

A lot of OEM parts are also made in China/Taiwan/Thailand.

Bought mine on Amazon but it didn't come painted black. It was the same grayish color all the rest are I just rattle canned that badboy so I can touch it up whenever it gets all gouged from trails.

I’m in Canada, that’s how much they are here.

Amazon doesn’t even have skids for Tacoma currently, but you can see how much trd skid for 4R is.

    I stand corrected.

Completely forgot that those measurements mean completely different things.

I think I payed a little over $200 a year or so ago for mine. $300 is a sight better than $900, smart shopping my dude.

Easiest way to tell if a truck is a pavement princess is check out the TRD skid if it has one. If it still has the red lettering, it lives an easy life. Mine got the letters ripped off the first time I took it out, and eventually banged it up to the point where I had to remove it and replace with RCI steel skids. Desert rocks are unforgiving out here.

Thanks all for the tips and opinions. I don't do off roading much or bash into anything. Just looking to add a little aesthetic to my Taco.

I got a quote of $395 out the door from Toyota for the Pro TRD skid plate. Discounted because I bought the truck there. Seems like a good deal.
