Genius! Plus if the fellow your transporting dies on the way to the infirmary you just reroute to the mortuary. Looks to be in good shape too.

 

A bit rusty, but mechanically solid; About 135K miles, ICE COLD A/C, new brakes all around (Power-operated, but drums all around), and thanks to the 389 under the hood it is no slouch!

 

This car was only ordered with the bare essentials; Mercifully for the employees who drove this beast in those hot Maryland summers, the car was ordered with A/C, which not only still works but still uses the old R-12 Freon! HVAC controls, which I initially thought to be the radio, are below...

 

As you can see here, the car was ordered without a radio or an electric clock; The owner wants to install a modern HU, but doesn't want to cut up the dash...

 

As if the job of an EMT or paramedic wasn't stressful enough today, can you imagine trying to work on a patient in the back of this thing?!?!

 

The gurney is original to the car, as are the curtains...

 

A couple more shots of the dashboard, and it actually has closer to 140K miles...

 

I think the whole point was to show that this car is regularly driven and not some pampered trailer queen; They also smoke in it...

 

Would you smoke in it though?

 

Dual purpose ambulance/hearse (combination car or coach) were very common in rural areas back in days gone by. Frequently there were panels that could be attached over the rear windows to give the vehicle a more formal look for funeral service.

Also, it has a rubber floor so it would be very easy to clean!

How about a street legal pro street 1983 Chevy S10 with 850hp and A/C?!?! I saw this at the same show as the hearse...
