Met a new Tacoma brother yesterday on a bike ride in the Angeles NF. He’s a friend of a friend/my paintball teammate. Not sure if he’s on here, but you’ve been spotted.

I’ve seen this one a couple of times. I think I saw it in Rancho or Ontario a few days ago when I was headed home from work.

Oh, okay. I always thought trans meant something else. So, you’re saying all those wide fender pre runners I like are transitioning? That is so different than what I thought.

just a few exits later, saw a Tacoma get pulled over from the carpool lane. Appeared to be by himself. CHP doesn’t play around..

According to OnScene TV (the stringer agency who shot the video):

04.24.2022 | 12:18 AM | SAN DIEGO - Witnesses told the CHP that the driver appeared to have been missing the exit for Hwy 94 as he was driving northbound on the I-805 and swerved to make the on-ramp. The drivers then drove through the gore point and hit the guardrail. The truck rode the guardrail and then hit the cement support for an overpass and landed back in the traffic lanes. The driver was killed on impact. All northbound traffic was shut down for approx 30 minutes while the CHP shut down the Hwy 94 on-ramp and set up flare patterns. While the firefighters were cutting the victim from the wreckage and the CHP was investigating, the driver of a white pick-up was exiting onto the Market St exit from the southbound I-805. When the driver got to the top of the ramp, he was seen putting a handgun out of the driver’s side window and firing 6-7 times at the firefighters and officers. No one was hit and CHP left the accident scene and started to look for the shooting suspect as he fled onto Market St. One shell casing was found on Market St. SDPD/CHP is investigating the shooting part of this incident.

Rest in peace to the driver, and my condolences to his family. It's amazing how one quick mistake on the roads can cost us our lives. I am also a stringer (freelance journalist), and I've shot no less than 4 or 5 dozen fatal crashes like this one. When I was younger, it was no big deal, and never "got" to me. I mean, I always understood the severity of the situation, but I was just doing my job, and it was easy to detach my emotions by reminding myself that I had nothing to do with the situation that unfolded before I arrived. Then one day, a few years ago, I was shooting photos at the scene of a fatal motorcycle accident in Menifee. The rider, who was ejected from his motorcycle (and killed) after he ran a red light and clipped the nose of a car, was lying on his back in the middle of the roadway. He was covered up, and just his boots were sticking out from the bottom of the cover. I was standing there studying his boots and looking at the knots he had tied with his shoelaces, and for some reason, it just really started to get to me. I couldn't stop thinking that he was just a normal guy, just like me or any of us. He tied his boots that morning just like I did mine, and was on his way home from work to see his family. He was just trying to beat a light as it turned red, and it cost him his life. Now, his family is sitting at home expecting him to walk in the door any minute, and instead, I'm right here next to his lifeless body in the middle of the street, studying his shoelaces, and they all have no idea yet how much their lives have changed. Since that day, I never look at these accidents the same. I always think about the person's family. What they were planning on doing when they got to their destination. I always notice their car seat or their wedding ring or their watch, or the little necklace hanging from the rear view mirror of their car, which clearly had some sentimental value. Maybe it's just because I'm starting to get older now (I'll be 40 in a month) and I have a 10 year old son, so I look at life differently. But it's getting harder and harder every time I cover one of these fatal accidents. Sorry to bring the mood down on everyone, but let's all just take this as a reminder to drive safely and arrive at your destination in one piece. There are people who care about you, and it's not worth the risk to avoid having to go to the next exit and turn around, or wait through another cycle of a light.

Friend of mine organized our outing and it was most of our first time there. For one, it was just his second time mountain biking and it was his son’s first time mountain biking at all. Last time I rode was last Memorial Day at Mammoth for snowboarding and mtb. It was a tough ride, but we pushed through and had a lot of fun.

I've seen way too many people swerve across several lanes to make an exit. Hell, I've almost been sideswiped several times. Just miss your exit, go to the next one and turn around. Reckless driving like that puts yourself (as can be seen in this video) and a lot of other people at high risk.

yea, thats exactly where I'm thinking. I live just under 2 miles away, easy enough to ride my bike to the trailhead, but often just drive there...

same offer as I gave to DWPhoto, if you ever want to ride the area again, just let me know, I'm always happy to meet up with people, ride, and show them around!
