To get the full travel out of them, and avoid issues, you should run aftermarket UCA's with the IMS59-50220.

Here's an example of a UCA design that allows a heap of droop but does not have added coil clearance on the inside, which is why I can't recommend JBA UCA's in conjunction with Dobinsons extended travel struts.

Just purchased a suspension setup through @Crikeymike at exit OffRoad for my 2020 TRD OffRoad DCSB. Will be posting review/thoughts after I get it and install it. Anyone who is looking for ~2.5" and doing the install themselves, I will post letting you know how it goes!

    Here's what I got:

    C59-302 coils
GS59-220 Front Struts (having exit offroad mount the coils on the struts)
    GS59-940 Rear shocks
Leaf Spring Pack (light to med load) I believe these are the 110R
    New U bolts and Bushings

Will be editing this post to include stock hub to fender measurements later:

    EDIT:
Stock Hub to fender measurements are

    Front Passenger: 20.5"
    IMG_0482.jpg

    Rear Passenger: 21"
    rear.jpg

Seems like I have 0.5" of rake stock with an empty bed

I have received all of my suspension parts! I am hoping to do the install this weekend but the rain may stop me.... will continue to post updates here

I have received all of my suspension parts! I am hoping to do the install this weekend but the rain may stop me.... will continue to post updates here[/QUOTE]

Making a new post as quite a few people liked my original post and wasn't sure if they would see the EDIT

I will be taking better pictures hopefully tomorrow for y'all

My suspension come in and was installed this past weekend by myself and my dad. Full install took about 6 hours with no complications

New ride height is 23" all around, gained 2.5" up front and 2" in the back. I ended up being leveled instead of having a bit of rake.

I put wildpeak at3 285/70/17 on the wheels and I have driven ~15 miles very gently on it so far. I have to take care of some rubbing happening this week and then I will feel better giving the truck a real shakedown and pushing the suspension.

@Crikeymike was an insane help with getting me the right parts for what I was looking for and answering all my stupid questions so fast. Mike thank you again for helping me out, your customer service is incredible and your knowledge is awesome.

I'm thinking of doing a complete build guide along with a suspension tutorial/guide. Dobinsons and exitoffroad have great instructions however there's there a few things I couldn't find and I had a few different documents combined to make myself a full guide.

The only issue I had, which i've seen another user post before, was the paint on the springs being all fucked up.

Damn good info, especially considering how popular JBAs are around here! Any other UCAs you'd recommend avoiding? I'll likely stick w/ Dobinsons if I decide to pursue aftermarkets

I spoke w/ Dobinsons twice about extra droop vs UCA travel. They said OEM UCAs should work with the IMS 50220s if the coil is set to ~2" or less. They couldn't give me an exact measure of travel over the OEM struts but said the IMS have 1.75" of additional travel over the Dobinson 221s. This honestly seems like an awful lot of droop for the stock UCAs to handle but I'll wait to see whether they bind or contact the coils before upgrading

The JBA's are the only ones I'm aware of that lack the inner clearance.

Nothing will break if you install the 220's with stock arms, then check for clearance. You'll know during install if they contact.

Given OEM ball joint limitations (actually farther than some aftermarket) I would be impressed if they managed to contact the coils before hitting their limit of travel

Is the ball joint designed to ever reach max articulation while under working load? Or does allowing it to do so risk damage?

Guess I'm struggling to understand if you're supposed to allow the strut to fully cycle or if the ball joint/UCA is supposed to intervene and prevent full extension?

The shock (or a limit strap if being used) will limit the down travel and the bump stop will limit up travel. The ball joints should not be the limiting factor.

Thank you, this is exactly the info I was looking for. Still a novice at this so your input is much appreciated

Thinking Ill measure the strut at full extension prior to installation and then compare that measurement to the length at full droop after it's installed. If my numbers match up up with no binding at the ball joint, I'll forego the aftermarket UCA and consider myself lucky

I wont be installing my setup for another month or so but I'll report back with some detailed #s and some photos just in case anyone finds themselves in a similar situation in the future. Thanks again to everyone for their help

2 inches or less of lift will easily accommodate the factory UCA. 2.5 is right around when things get fun

Lol it's been stated. Only a few thousand posts to read :D

Plus aftermarket UCAs generally allow for more adjustability which is key when you upgrade to 33 inch tires (or larger....)

haha nah you're right. I've read so many mixed opinions about UCA's and what size lift to start worrying about them. figured I can always just order a pair after if the stock ones don't work out

For the guys with 12" shocks at the back (relocation kit), anything mix and match from other makes/models that Dobinson may carry?

Not currently, It was talked about here https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/dobinson-mrr-set-up.669662/page-7
It's a shame I did shock relocation and would have loved to stay with a Dobinsons shock in the rear.

Which shocks did you go with? I currently got 12" Fox 2.0 that are coming up to end of the life and looking at my options at the back.

I did the fox 2.0 also. Being in the rust belt the aluminum body is the way to go.

    no aftermarket bumper/winch and it's a 2nd Gen (2012)

    Thanks!
