It’s alive! My dads a retired carpenter and slowly clearing out his garage. Needed a new belt and still could use some surface rust removal, but hard to beat free.

Next thing I’m trying to bring home, weighs a ton, and the rollers for the planer need to be redone. Found a place in Washington that recoats them, but the screws are super soft and stripping out, only a few inches of clearance to remove them in the first place, so need to get creative in how to get it apart. (Picture isn’t the one I’ve got, but same model)

Yeah I got to agree. This is beautiful. Almost a old sole type bench. Thanks for the throwback.
I'm going to guess you may be a little older, or had a family member that loved what they worked on and developed their shop over time
    Nice Job man.

Thanks man. I am in my mid 40’s but grew up on my grandpas farm back in VA and his shop evolved over the years. Nothing went to waste. This particular hood matches the one on an old 67 1 ton dump truck my grandpa had on the farm. Just reminds me of those days and trying to salvage some of my soul here in suburbia.

Great deal! But does suck costs have gone up on all these US General boxes. I've got two of the old 4 drawer carts (which I hacked up and turned into a single 8 drawer box) as well as the older (not as deep) 44" roller cabinets. They've been very good to me and are so much better than almost every other brand except the likes of Snapon and Mac. Unfortunately, with the garage re-org I'm hoping to do soonish I think I'm gonna need to get rid of both my current boxes and one new big one (e.g the 56" roller cabinet). Gonna have to decide if it's better to sell the old ones to pay for the new or try to use the old ones somewhere else. Perhaps integrate the old 44" cabinet into the new bench I'll be building.

They make a hutch for these? I haven't seen any - unless you're talking about the Icon ones, which maybe fit the US General boxes? But man that hutch is $$$.

While I'm here the Eastwood mini metal saw is outstanding. I cut mostly .125 mild steel, and 2 chunks of .25ms and it did very well. Much cheaper than a plasma which I don't have room for.

Yeah, that's the Icon one. I don't believe it'd fit on the US General line of boxes. The Icon boxes are 25" deep vs the 22" depth of the standard US General ones so pretty sure the hutch would be incompatible.

I've read through all 250+ pages of this thread over the course of the last 2 months. And in those 2 months, I have completely redone my garage/shop setup.

This thread has been fantastic for inspiration. OP if you're out there, thank you.
