Man I hope it’s still open. I’ll reach out to a couple local people here also and see if they know anything

I put a post on Southern VT offroad to see if anyone has heard more than rumors. Could always plan a trip to Dorset and if it is blocked, go do Sucker pond as a backup. Trailhead to trailhead is about 30 min.

As best I know, the northern part of the trail from Bennington to the pond has always been open. Same for Country Road from the south. The issue over the last year has been the section from the power lines at the end of country rd up to the pond.

Not sure about closed but I know a guy who said his off-road club patrols the road. Not sure what that means, never know what's BS. I have his number and will ask what he says about me popping by and getting caught..

Probably. Little League is consuming my Saturdays until the end of June. If we go on a Sunday, I'll be there. Id probably skip the hard section of Sucker pond. I'm not lifted yet.

We also have a trip going to some private land at the end of May in Esperance, NY. Check the other TONY thread.

Been trolling along that thread. Might try for Sunday Monday on that.
Think I'd be in for a Sunday run anytime you got the itch.

Its public land, so unless it says forest ranger on the side of his truck...

I think there’s gates up, but I don’t know. Someone else was posting a club runs it, so maybe a club has permission to go and otherwise it’s closed? Don’t know. It’s like, 1-2 levels above my trucks capabilities so I haven’t had interest really.

I think it’s always been open, but there’s still some state vs. federal land or something, and some of the patrols don’t know the differences and will still give you a hard time. Supposedly. I haven’t been, this is all heresay. Forget who I was talking to.

ooo i’ll be taking a look at that, that’s only about 3.5 hours from me. TBD.

Cool, I'm literally running into that guy in a couple hours and I'll post back whatever he says.. with a grain of salt
And find out the club blah blah. Just never heard of a club patrolling public land.

Florida road. This is what I got

Apparently they oversee the trail and report asshats back to the rangers.

Ahhhh, that's right that's what it was - the go around are a no no but the trail is open.

I searched and didn't see anything on Dorset yet.

    Edit lol cowboy.

Not sure of how things are in VT but in NH most road closures are up to the local road agent so the further north you go the the less likely that May 1 date is accurate, I have seen a few roads posted until mid May in my neck of the woods. Also I saw a post about the Dorset caves somewhere about some local drama and trying to limit access so if you do go up keep your vehicles out of the caves to not stir the pot and help keep it open and accessible, or at least that was the word going around.

Awesome, so we can take a run at it whenever?

Need to get some real commitment on those lines, looks like the gatekeeper obstacle is no joke
