It's really neat in an CES exhibit kinda way. Practical, no not really, worth the money, absolutely not, but it's like a concept car, it shows what a real version of future will be based around or derive features from.

They’ve gotta come a long ways before I’ll consider an EV

SUU's aviation program seems to be doing pretty well here in Cedar, you'd even be close enough for access to all my spare taillights haha

A concept car that will be produced and sold in the hundreds of thousands. Try telling the 80k reservation holders that its not practical or worth the money.

Just wait til we're all driving solar powered trikes https://aptera.us/ haha

I finally got the other ones to work, I think I had it wired right, but I kept pushing a pin out when I plugged them in.

I’d have to find a local program or something to take someday. I’d much rather have a helicopter to fly around than a boat.

but this is all just day dreaming

I had a funky wire like that for a while too, any time I pushed the plugs together I had to slightly pull it apart or the blinker would go crazy

I'm okay if I die before the solar powered trike things take off.

The Rivian is still a neato novelty, saw one the other day so I know they're out there. It's kinda like seeing a kids drawing of their ideal vehicle. Has a bunch of random stuff/"features" all over, looks kinda goofy, but it's still neato and many of it's features will be standard on the electric vehicles others produce en masse, just refined

    right

I was thinking about this the other day. In my mind the best selling electric truck would be something like a basic hilux/ranger that could be sold as a fleet truck. No "self driving", 360 cameras, 12" center display, just a plain white truck with electric powertrain. Sell them to NAPA and other fleet orgs that wouldn't blow out the 200 mi range running around town making smaller deliveries... Obviously the brains that do market analysis and spec out these super fancy electric vehicles disagree, but that's my thought.

Obviously it needs cameras everywhere and a kitchen sink. What else will the napa guy pee in

Thin margins on trucks like that.

Big neato bells-and-whistles trucks drum up the excitement to pay for the plain white trucks the world really needs.

I'd guess the self-driving, 360 cameras, big display are essentially bolt-ons to a manufacturer at this point. They're probably teeny line items compared to the engineering of the power train and batteries.

Or another view... Napa knows they can pay $25k for a white Transit and they already have all the knowledge and parts on the shelf to keep it running. Why risk something totally different?

It's just all too gimmicky and pricey for something I cannot take seriously as a vehicle. If it was subaru baja sized and was just the vehicle without all the other nonsense going on it might be a good little UTE for cruising a fire road or going to the store.
