I’m not sure where RokBlokz got that idea from? Doesn’t every Tacoma have the same exhaust? I was skeptical of buying the RokBlokz for my ‘21 TRD OR short bed but I don’t have melting issues.

Im not sure. I even contacted them and got a reply today. They said that the TRD exhaust runs hot and leads to mudflap warping.

I purchase the Tuffskins…for a 2019 Tacoma TRD LB… Did not come with factory mud flaps ..NONE…& I have NOT install them yet…
But before ordering ..I look to see if I had factory holes / slots to hang the mud flaps…and looks like the factory holes are there?
Maybe some models were not made for mud flaps? I will let you know ..when I install mines?
Maybe that is why most tires sit under and inside the fenders…once you move the tires further outside? It may create more problems?
    Aloha

The TRD exhaust tip is oval, which probably shortens the distance between the exhaust heat and flap. Perhaps when driving at higher speeds the flap flexes enough to get too close and heat warp happens?

Like all MODS… Some fits like a dream..others gives you nightmares when installing…?
The ..easy , hard , and difficult…MODS.. Sometimes it pays to have others install them…lol
…I know ..part of the fun is doing it yourself…

It shows not all Tacoma’s are built the same…? I know the the Pro & TRD has special fenders.. ( adds more protection)…
I am sure there must be OEM mud flaps for the SR’s..?
Wow..some many of you…really like this topic…. So far none on ash trays? Lol
One day Toyota will design lots of features…the aftermarket provides…?

SR trims do not have fender flares, and would therefore need some custom drilling/fitting to mount a flap. All other trims have the flares.

There was a time we built our own mud flaps/ flares…using all kinds of materials..my flavorite was using aluminum sheets…cut to fit where we wanted it …even mound it to fit fenders..to extend it outwards..my friend has a Datsun with chrome rims and tires sticking out of the fenders..lol…

You see so many people using those rubber garden edging..attach to the fenders to cover those tires sticking out to far…ugly, but works to pass safety inspections…

I've seen lot of talk about yes and no here, but for the yessers with larger tires, what did you do to make it so the tires don't rub? I run 275/70/17s and already had to trim off a little of the plastic on the lower back part of the front wheel well. I'd love to run flaps to keep the stones from sandblasting my sliders, but I don't see how they'll fit. I'd like to see pics of setups where you've already trimmed, then added flaps.

Not an issue… for flex to get to the mud flap, you’d need the fenders to move!

hard to see this being a problem with all the airflow…

    Caveat: I have the rekgens

I've had no issues with Rokblokz and the Pro exhaust as well. Even though Rokblokz state it isn't compatible.

They cause wind noise, kill gas mileage, get hung up and ripped off off road but they do look pretty freakin' WRC.

I removed mine before I left the dealer.

Mud flaps “kill mileages”….? UM …never heard of that one? I am sure the fender wells create more resistance?
Should we remove the fenders? Lol
    Just having some fun here….
Our Tacomas.. the way we MOD our trucks , and most MODS are not for the purpose of increasing mileage.. bumpers, skid plates, lift kits, bigger tires..creates loss of mileage…

the mud flaps…the comments…you guys make it interesting…enjoyable to read…. I think it is more of a individual choice…and the reasons giving are all good ones….

when I am walking thru thru the raining forest..the mud flaps on my shoes ..keeps my socks cleaner…? um?
    Aloha

What is your setup? I have 285/70r17 with the TRD lift and I had to remove the front ones. What tire size do you have?

I'm with you. I have 285/70r17 and I have to trim the same exact little piece of plastic (have not done it yet). If anyone can confirm Rockbloks will still work, I will get them in a hard beat. The side of my truck is getting blasted with dirt and mud.
