Good for you, OP. I’ve got 35k on my 2020 with the same tire size, and I get about 17 mpg at 73 mph. Wish I had your truck.

Mine always scores high on mpg when the ECU is fresh and not averaged.

But then there is the chance that he got the golden Tacoma, that 1 in 3 million that has the perfect motor. Perhaps hes the one.

At least in his own mind.

Normal weekly driving 50/50 City/Hwy I get around 18-19 if a drive like there's an egg under the gas pedal.
Driving normal "no egg" around 16-17. Neither adjusted for tire size. So the highway mpg did surprise me.

And by the way. It's not Gold it's Army Green! :D

op. Do us all a favor, stop looking at your dash. Fill your truck up fully. reset the trip meter and drive a good amount under normal circumstances. Fill truck up all the way again. Take note of miles driven as reported by the trip meter and gallons of gas used to fill tank.

Take trip meeter miles and multiply by 1.048 (adding 4.8% for your larger 275/65R18s). then divide by your number of gallons put back in the tank. This will get you ACTUAL mpg not some guesstimate programmed in by the truck.

Until then your original post is pointless.

I’ll be lucky to get 18.5 going 73. I’ve got skinny 33s, 2” lift, bed rack and RTT.

Also, manuals run at higher rpms in 6th.

I agree on you method of filling up the truck and checking miles driven vs. gallons used. Then adjusting for tire size.
But this method can also be inaccurate to a point. Uneven tank filling before or after. Expansion due to heating of the day and other factors can skew result. But like I said I agree with this a being a acceptable method and I will check it this way sometime in the future.
We'll see how that approach compares to the dashboard calculation.

My 1st post pointless? Maybe, maybe not.

Its FAR more accurate (especially if almost a full tank is used) than the computer generated mpg.

I'm not surprised. I've been using 32" tires on my 2007 for a long time. For normal every day driving I'm around 17 mpg. But on road trips consistently get 20+. And I've always done better in mountains, or hilly country than flat roads. Yea, you burn more fuel going up, but more than make up for it coasting down the other side. I've hit 22-23 mpg several times in that type of terrain. And this is all hand calculated, no other way on my older truck. And the 3rd gens should do better.

If on interstate travel at 70-75 the wind resistance is more of a factor. If I keep it at 70, I'll get 20 mpg. If I bump it to 75 it will be closer to 19 mpg.

If your stock tire size is 30.5", and you have 32" tires, if your uncalibrated odometer thinks you drove 22 miles, you actually only drove 20.97 miles, not 22. So you got 21 MPG, not 23 after adjusting for tire size.

I only run the stock size still (265/70 16). There are certain routes I consistently pull 23 mpg as well. For CO folks I make the run to DIA from around Chatfield pretty often. 470-25-225-Pena Blvd. Usually around 65-70mph. I always check the trip and it is pretty consistent. Round trip to Keystone and back I average 21-22, mpg sucks going up there, but great coming home. Usually at the speed limit, not racing. Long trips that have more 75 speed limits I typically am just under 20. Been that way for over 50k miles on my truck.

I take it most of your driving must be a flat roads little or no hills.

My guess is this happened on one of those special days, when all the planets in the solar system align perfectly above your truck, and interstellar gravity pulls your truck along. Had it happen a couple times myself. You gotta know to look for it.
