Hello guys how’s it going? I got a issue with my 2017 Tacoma crank no start. Scanned and found p033515. Tried clearing code and replacing the crankshaft sensor on passenger side . Code won’t clear and car work start.

is there 2 crankshaft sensors on this model? V6 3.5l
Or what else could it be? Thanks guys

Near as I can tell there’s only one crankshaft position sensor.

Ok only one sensor ,now is this code for the actual sensor or could it be that there’s a short somewhere?

Did you replace the CPS with an OEM one?

I'd check the wire loom leaving the CPS. I believe it travels directly to the ECM, so hopefully
it's either a crappy new CPS, or a short in the wire loom.

I think that’s a circuit code. Meaning not necessarily the sensor itself. Visual inspection for mice / cut wires etc?

Replaced with beck/arnley sensor ,inspected wiring but didn’t see any cuts etc. could it be that a weak or dying battery cause this sensor? I put a jumper on it but still wouldn’t start. I will reinspect wiring . Vehicle arrived with crank no start but didn’t have sensor code on it yet . After battery dies from cranking it over then code came up

No, it's just those 3 wires to/from the ECM.

You have to do the following after making the repair:

Ignition switch turned to ON after normal judgment obtained in 3 consecutive driving cycles
    or
After DTCs cleared using Techstream or cable disconnected from negative (-) battery terminal, universal trip performed and normal judgment obtained for 2 trips (not for misfire and fuel system DTCs)
    or
After DTCs cleared using Techstream or cable disconnected from negative (-) battery terminal, malfunction not detected when universal trip driving pattern performed (misfire and fuel system DTCs)

so disconnect negative and let it sit for a while ? I’m not sure what you mean about trip driving if I can’t turn in over?

A trip is essentially a drive cycle. Start the truck, drive it to the store, turn it off. That's 1 trip.

If you replaced the sensor and found a wire that was broken, and repaired it, then the code should go inactive and the engine should start. If it does not, then you still have a problem. Unplug the the ECM plug and the Crank sensor plug and check them with an ohm meter. You should get no resistance and no shorts to ground. If the wiring checks out, then put the original sensor back in.

That is because the engine is not running. Once the engine is running and the alternator is putting out voltage, that goes out.

Nor familiar with this code reader, but is this the vehicle battery voltage?
    20220426_172643.jpg

If it is the vehicle battery voltage, then it's time to charge it or replace it.
