Oh I did not know the wire was that small. Thought I read somewhere that the circuit could take up to 7.5A since that's what it's fused to, though that's for the power side of the circuit. Is the 24 awg wire to which you refer the one that the ECU adjusts via PWM? And that completes the map/dome circuit?

Your suggestion to put it all on the cargo light signal - would that not mean that no lights come on when you approach the vehicle and the maps/dome fade on?

Also, I apologize for all my questions; hope it isn't coming off as defiant. I love learning and would like to understand the task/design/logic process itself vs jumping straight to the solution.

It’s 7.5A total, so you have to account for the total draw from the lights that the circuit is actually intended for + the stuff you’re adding (sounds like 4A). The wire size is only relevant because that’s the size of the wire in your a-pillar connector. Regardless of what the circuit is fused to, if you try to draw a bunch on those tiny a-pillar wires you can run into problems.

When you have your cargo light switch in door mode, does your cargo light turn on as you approach the truck? I drive an access cab so I can’t confirm. Also the cargo light behaves differently on certain trucks (e.g. the Limited), so verify on your own and let me know.

I'll check tonight. Tried in the day but it's too damn bright out. I know it at least turns on when a door opens but don't think it's on when I approach prior to unlock.

The A-pillar tap is the one I hear about the most but I'm guessing there's gotta be another tap? Or would it even matter since that 24awg is on the same circuit so is the limiting factor?

Ok, confirmed my cargo light does NOT come on when I approach the vehicle. Switch was in door mode.

That's for the cargo light? I could adjust that but I'm fine with just the maps and domes fading on/off and using that to trigger just the rack and slider lights.

Hm, as I think more about when I'd use the bed and aft lights, I'd probably be fine with just manually turning those on when I need them. I'm already planning to build a switch panel back there anyway.

Custom orders from last week will be going out tomorrow instead of today (power has been out all day) -- if you want to get on next week's build list let me know.

Large re-supply of left of steering wheel harnesses should be here tomorrow. That should mark everything as in stock and ready to ship.

Looking forward to finally installing some of these harnesses after my bumper arrived. I have a question about how to connect one of the switches I was hoping someone could help me out with. When I installed my winch, I added a power interrupter solenoid that connects to an on/off switch in the cab. The solenoid only has one wire going to the switch. My questions are:
    • Do I connect the wire from the solenoid to the red or green wire from the harness?
    • What do I do with the remaining wire from the harness?

Ground the solenoid and then the power out of the switch goes to the + of the solenoid. Make sure the switch you’re using is rated high enough for the solenoid.

Thanks for the info. Realized I should be going to a relay before going to the switch. Thanks for the reminder about checking the switch rating.

Bumping this specific comment as I get asked a few times a week about how to rewire the switch that comes with Rigid, Diode Dynamics, etc. light bars.

This is the last week to get your orders in on stocked harnesses for a good while. I’ll be out of town and virtually booked-out until November. Thanks!

Nice, I'm interested in the "Dome" light harness. Thanks for making these available.
Is the dome light, the map light, or the cabin light. I'm sorry for the naïve question.
Also, the listing on the site suggests this is for low-current draw use only. What is considered low-current in this context?
    Thx.

Slowly catching up on PM's. Yes the overheads are still available, but in a limited quantity. Feel free to shoot me a PM; I have to count how many are left. I'm supposed to send a lot of my stock to a retailer this week.
