Weather has been all over the place here but got a nice loam day in Sunday. Almost sent it off a few times, back tire is gettin pretty roached. I wish they'd make some DDs with dual compound, I can only get around 300mi out of a 3C before the side knobs depart. Kinda makes me want to try a big betty in super gravity..

Anothet vote for Jackroo if it’s a small run. Our group has also used VR7, Hincapie, and another that I don’t think is in biz any longer. Jackroo and VR7 were top notch but Jackroo wins on small orders and makes follow up orders easier should you decide you want another couple later.

Just replaced the maxxis with specialized for the season. Maxxis had about 500 miles or so on them and the side knobs were getting pretty beat up (have lots of rocks and roots in New England). Decided to go tanwalls on the all black bike to spice it up a bit.

For those putting frame protection on their bikes, where are you purchasing from? Or just getting a generic roll and cutting as needed?

YES!! That's a great look! I have some tan wall Eliminators in my cart... just haven't pulled the trigger.

Edit: Are those Desert Dune color grips? Looks pretty spot on the tan walls.

I might be going up to Camarillo for work a bit more these days. It would be cool to hit up Sapwi Bike Park after work. I’ll try to hit you guys up ahead of time so we can plan something.

P.S. And, a group ride with @DarthPow at El Prieto / Angeles NF trails would be stellar.

Ride wrap even though I think its overpriced. And I got a roll of the 3M thick stuff for the downtube.

Yeah the downtime is my biggest concern. I when for a quick road ride to slosh the tire sealant and start getting accustomed to the bike and all the sand & gravel pelting the frame hurt me mentally. Yeah, it's a tool, not a treasure but getting dings (and there are) in the first 2mi sucks! Particularly when there is a solution

I got the peanut butter loam grips from PNW - but I think the desert dune would of been a closer match. The specialized tanwalls are a bit lighter than other brands.

Ahh, thanks for the heads up. I really like the darker brown from other brands, like Maxxis.. DHR II, but 2.3s are all out of stock. Truth be told, thats probably too much tire for my use anyways. Have you rolled those new tires yet? They look like Eliminators.

I have a 2.6 Butcher up front and a 2.3 Eliminator in the rear - comparable to the Maxxis setup I was running: DHF up front and Aggressor in the rear. Just finished re-taping the rims and mounting this afternoon, will aim to get out for a rip before the weekend to test them out.

Before the Maxxis I had an Eliminator up front and a Purgatory in the rear which were faster rolling, but didn't last as long. The tires I'm running now are a little more aggressive for what I probably need, but I've yet to have a washout or lose grip in a corner. Would rather sacrifice rolling speed for better grip and confidence.

Ride Wrap is the best, and the guys who own/run it are awesome! If you're just going to slap some on the bottom of the down tube, Shelter Tape is nice and thick to absorb impacts.

    not enough.
+1 on the ridewrap. I use it on all my bikes. I'd daresay it looks better and stays on better than invisiframe. ridewrap also sells their stuff by the roll if you want their specific film. But you can get away with clear tape from your local store if you don't want to get too spendy.

+3 RideWrap. Used Inisiframe in the past, RideWrap is better. Plus you can get different kits from them; from fully tailored to basic coverage, they got you "covered."
Actually just working on one now, as I'm rebuilding the bike from the ground up.
