Wasn't sure where else to post.

Seeking advice on whether or not to report to insurance. Could afford radiator out-of-pocket but definitely not the rest.

She was following me. Turning right on red she thought I went but I had stopped. She gunned it without looking. Truck is fine. Van is effed.

Lots of broken tabs (including one that broke some of internal headlight housing). Hood is bent to shit. Plastic grille is toast. Wasn't too worried until I noticed radiator. No evidence of leak but I am assuming should be replaced to be safe?

Just can't decide whether to piece together fixes out of pocket to save the insurance hike or bite the bullet on the insurance hike and get it all done right.

If it were mine, I would turn it in and move on. Stuff happens.

I've done a mod or two
Looks easy cheesy as far as repairs goes, get a new hood painted, new grille, replace ac condenser. The fender damage looks like old damage but you could order one and that could be painted the same time as a hood, just nuts and bolts. Not worth raising both your premiums over that, no structural damage, it's all DIY capable shit. If the AC still works I wouldn't replace the condenser even

Report to insurance; its why you pay for it. Otherwise, you're just throwing away that insurance money every month.

I wouldn’t report it looks superficial to me if the AC still works and radiator isn’t leaking or running hot.
Vans already dented just drive it worry free if it were me but your truck that’s unacceptable I’d get a high clearance bumper and a matching front cause reasons.

I'd report it. It's what you're paying for. Fix the van. Sell the taco dinged bumper and get a hi clearance one. Win win

Also double check if your insurance offers accident forgiveness. I was in accident in December, determined to be 100% fault, totaled both my truck and the other drivers car. I learned after the fact that I had accident forgiveness as part of my policy, and sure enough now that I have my new truck, my rates have not gone up at all. (I do now have to go 5-years with no accident at my fault before I can get accident forgiveness turned back on). Insurance is with USAA for those curious.

That sucks but it happens. My wife sideswiped her Miata with her minivan while parking in front of the house too.

Funny, we're a SSM tacoma & white Honda Odyssey family as well......

If I cant fix it for less than 2x my deductible, I report it.

Save yourself the hassle, call it in.

Feign neck pain from whiplash and get an ambulance chaser to sue her for damages :D

If that doesn't work, I agree with Rock Lobster.

If less than 2X the deductible I wouldn't report it.

Not sure on weather you should report or not. Whatever you do, make sure they don’t con you and give you two coats of wax not just one.

Just finishing up the second coat now!

Thanks y'all. I was already leaning toward reporting but sometimes it's helpful to hear others agree.

I went ahead and reported everything to Geico and will go from there.

Report it to your insurance, sue your wife for emotional damage, and move on.

This is close. I'd get an estimate on what it would cost to get the van repaired and try to pay for it out of pocket and not report it. But a lot depends on your situation and there is more we don't know than we do.

You will have a deductible, mine is $500. If the cost to get it repaired is $1000 I'd still have to come up with $500. In my case I'd rather pay the $1000 out of pocket and not take a chance on having my insurance canceled for the $500 I'd save. They WILL go up on your rates, and it may cost you a lot more in the long run to report it

if you fail to report an accident (fault or no fault) to your insurance company, it’s what we call “fraud”.
