Got used to lite throttle pretty quick. Hit the etc button and it was better so when I got home I flashed the mild / medium etc tune. Tomorrow will even be more fun.

Funny, that’s how OTT’s @Boltripper has his own truck set up. And @trdquoc

You won't regret it! My 22 only had 800 miles on the odometer and was 2 weeks old.

Something I have noticed within the last 4-5 days is that the engine seems to sound better and my idling seems smoother. Might just be in my head but the engine definitely seems happier. Wish there was one for my wife’s 98 4 runner :)

I can say that I agree with most of this statement, but I don't fully agree with it all. 35's are for sure adding a lot of rotating mass and reducing the overall reduction ratio from the crankshaft to the ground.

By adding a lower reduction set of gears will return the losses from the tire diameter increase from the rear pinion bearing forward, and return to a more factory stress level from the rear driveshaft forward. But it certainly isn't putting less stress on the differential. the axle shafts, carrier bearings ring gear and front pinion bearing are all seeing the same amount of load as having a stock gear ratio, the difference is you end up dividing the "work" into the reduced pinion gear teeth, and bearing rpm. So really you can expect an accelerated amount of wear on those pinion teeth, and increase in wear on pinion bearings over a stock truck. The work is still the same, you are just trading heavy load into higher wear over a given time.

Theoretically you can only help reduce some of the differential stresses, by increasing the ring gear diameter, which would give a longer moment arm from the center of the axle shaft to the center point of contact from the pinion. it would provide a better leverage ratio with the same amount of input torque coming from the driveshaft.

Anyone know if there is a tuner in or around Spokane, WA? The closest I am seeing is the Seattle area. I reached out to PNW tuning via their website but haven't heard anything back yet. I am sure they are just busy. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

This is why I still have my stock 3.90 ratio. Beefy . I'm considering doing a dual case

I'm possibly thinking about joing your group so we can give more options for customers . I have vf tuner just not the pro license

You can use a rear center section, and front clamshell from a manual trans truck, and find then in a wreckers to gain a 4.30 gear ratio cheaper than buying and installing a set at a shop. Just make sure its from a manual off road or Pro, so you get the 8.9" rear ring gear.. the sport trucks have a smaller ring diameter.

One major thing the Tacoma community in the UAE has been looking for is to bypass the rev-limit throttle cut.
Our only offroading consists of dune bashing in the desert so you need consistent power without any gear changes or drop in power and the Tacoma fails at that.

Has there been a solution for that with OTT?

I believe you were the one who posted on the vF tuner forums a while back as well? Haven't seen this feature become available yet, and I can't recall if it'll be available this weekend.

I had this combo in my old truck with 35’s. It wasn’t really a major difference. Luckily it only cost me $600 in labor to swap out diffs from my buddys MT truck.

I would just spend the money and go 5.29’s if I were doing it again
