Level gives too much hood to look at beyond the whole lack of rake issue.

That's about the sag I have with option 2, 100lb steel rack, RTT, and all my camping gear in the bed of the truck. Just enough to be annoyingly lower than level. I put usually 30-40lbs in my riderites and it sits with a little rake and handles a lot better on the road as well. I didnt go option 3 mainly because I didnt want to hate the ride when empty and I spend more time empty than loaded so air bags made the most sense. daystars make the rear end a little loud when the suspension smacks the airbags against the cradles when not loaded but it was worth the noise so I could still let the RXTs flex when offroading without the fear of ripping the bags.

Side note GREAT looking truck! Love it!

I feel like I didn't get that much height out of my front but maybe it just looks different on someone else's truck lol

    Hi All,

Great thread. I have been corresponding with Hotshot Offroad today via PM and also super helpful. Curious on the feedback I'll get cause both Hotshot and I are like, damn you are in no mands land with no clear setup. I am upgrading to 6112s and 5160s, and Icon RXT leaf pack.

    Current Situation:
    • Offroad DCLB stock suspension
    • ~450 pounds permanent weight (topper, sliders, prinsu rack and misc tools). Only future plan is aluminum skids at about 35 extra pounds above what I listed.
    • I sag about 0.25 to 0.5" up front from stock (20.5" driver, 20.75 passenger)
    • I sag 0.5" in back with gas tank near empty - 21.5". With full tank I am level on passenger and droop on driver by 0.5"
Goal is to get 1.5" to 2" higher than stock for clearance offroading, smoother ride over the stock suspension, ability to handle some extra load and still have some rake and for sure no droop.

    My head is here:
    • 6112 with 650# springs on the 9/7 setting with the new 6112 notches. That should give me 1.9" from where I am at today so net about 1.5" above stock height.
    • RXT option 3. With permanent weight I should get about 2.1 inches in back from the stock 22". Or 24.1 inches from hub.
    • Total rake would be about 1.4 to 1.5"
    • That rake would let me load up with camping gear, water, firewood, etc. and be level or still have some rake.
Would you do where my head is at or change something?

@AStinkyBumb - great name!! Hey how much weight would estimate all of that to be?
    • "100lb steel rack, RTT, and all my camping gear in the bed of the truck"
    • And do you have sliders or anything else that would add to weight in the back? I know sliders will be more evenly distributed but it impacts the rear to some degree.
Trying to decide between Option 2 and 3.

I have the smittybilt xl tent: 168lbs, camp gear is probably a few hundred lbs with wood and water included. say 250-350, I do have sliders but I found the front dropped more than the rear when I put them on probably cause 887's aren't built for weight just lift. No steel rear or anything other than a full size spare.

I would say fully loaded I am at 5-600 lbs and option 2 sags only a little. The Airbags I installed help me keep it level and ride a little better. When I unload gear but keep the tent/rack on between trips the rear does lower ever so slightly but not enough for me to keep pressure in my airbags. It seems to hold the 250lbs of rack and tent just fine.

Only about 250 in bed on a daily basis (ARE topper, bed mar, some tools).

Estimate another 200-300 when camping but half of that goes in the back seat with the seats folded down.

I feel like I am sort of smack dab in no man’s land. A little to heavy for the 200# rating on option2 so I will sag a little more and too light for option 3. At least too light on a daily basis.

I believe I am going to go with option 2.

Hey guys, I have an RXT pack coming in and was curious about your guys’ opinion. I have a Weatherguard tool box I keep all of my power tools and misc hand tools in that probably weighs in around 300 pounds. I also keep a Yeti full of drinks and ice that probably weighs another 40-50 pounds daily. I was considering option 2 but am leaning towards option 3 to be sure I get 2-2.25” of lift in the rear even when loaded up with additional tools like a chop saw/ table saw/ compressor or tow a small box trailer to a job site. Just curious about your guys’ experiences as Icon’s guide doesn’t really have an answer for me. I’m going to be installing Fox 2.5’s in the front and aiming to get 2-2.25” of lift from those as well. So all in all I’m hoping to maintain an 1” of rake.

I’ve been running option 2 since January with Fox 2.5s and with about 330 pounds of constant load in the rear (RTT, UpTop truss rack, and Diamondback tonneau). I recently went on a camping trip loaded up with my fiancée, dog, another friend, a cooler full of beverages, and a bunch of camping supplies and it still looked and handled great. Personally the only way I’d jump to option 3 is if I added a steel bumper.
