Moisture in glovebox... WTF

I was getting in my glove box today and there was alot of moisture built up on everything in my glove box. It has snowed recently and melted and i can't see anywhere that it could have gotten in. I was wondering if anyone has experienced the same thing??

 

First things first... No one put a snowy hat or gloves in there right?

With ice and all, you can get ice damming which can make water go the wrong way from drainage..

 

Maybe the frozen painkiller that you left in there? Just kidding, there is a problem with the outside vent leaking down and getting the interior air filter wet that is just behind the glove box. It could be from there or possibly the windshield leaking?

 

Might have gotten some snow on the fresh air intake. Not entirely sure how that's possible though.

 

Absolutely is possible. Well.. usually don't get much snow here, but.... I used to get snow blowing in my car if I didn't clean my hood well. It comes in with the air. no reason it couldn't get in there without the help of a fan, though it should drain.

Wait.. you don't have kids do you? Cause it might get there the same way my car is full of colorful rocks and bits of shell and coral and robots.

well it doesn't snow much on lv426. I hear its got methane storms though and big roaches.

YEa.. I'd always get ice crystals, and light snow blowing through my vents in the morning. Didn't used to have recirculate or filters. And where/when I grew up, it would have spurts of months below zero, so there was no "sticky" snow. In the wind it was like blowing sand. would roll right up the hood and get sucked into the vents. Then spray out onto the windshield. Meaning that time you didn't spend warming up your car cause you were late was just wasted. Cause you're waiting now.

 

Ah, see that makes more sense.

And yes the bugs here are rather large. Got one hell of a nasty bite to them as well.

 

nope no kids or anything snowy/wet put in there... I actually hardly ever get in my glovebox so its hard to tell if this is the first time or not

 

yea.. it might just be condensation for a good long time.

is it just damp or little puddle?

 

could be a leak in the windshield seal, as some people have had water collecting in the floorboards because of that.

Also, some people, particularly '05 and '06 models, have found there was no cabin air filter installed. Could be possible moisture is getting all the way up there with no barrier? I don't know the design of the cabin air intake, just speculating on that.

 

Disagree on air filter. You'd have mushrooms growing out your vents if that was getting wet, its not intended to stop moisture from anything.
But having just installed a cabin filter last night, any leak from that area would go right into the glove box by the look.

I doubt, but possible is windshield leak.

 

Isn't their a modd for water getting in thru the cabin air filter

 

If you've got something more than condensation, which I wouldn't think you'd have in west virginia this time of year, much less your ac on, you've got a leak. Is there a problem with water getting into the air system that needs to be modified?

interesting, I park my truck just under the eaves, mostly to get the free hood sandblasting from the gravel coming off the shingles, but also to clear the sidewalk.

We've had a few several inch per hour rain storms with it parked like that and didn't happen. I figured if that didn't do it..

But, ice can form, leading water into that area.. it certainly is borderline open to it.
