Yep. Normal. It will drop when you pull the trigger.

Vulcan cart from Harbor Freight, same with the welding table next to it.

Would make my own but we just moved in and I've got nothing to work on at home.

if you can find a local welding supply store you can probably get a better deal in the long run
I bought my tank for $250 and get refills for $35 on a 80cf

I just swapped out a tank an hour ago.

Cost me $77 for a 336 cf tank. Those are like handling a dead body!

Hence I transfer the gas from this tank to the tanks that are on my 2 welders. Once its down to 1/4 full I can bear hug it and put on one of the other welder carts.

I fill local. I was referring to initial purchase which is what they were asking about originally (if I recall correctly).

My manual (hobart) says the typical rate is 20 so I've kept it there and haven't adjusted. But I think I will start fooling with it to see if I notice a difference going a tad lower and make my small tank last longer. I've been tempted to get a 2nd bottle -- running out sucks.

I have a small piece of 4140 I need to heat treat.

What's a cheap way to measure temperatue for this sort of thing? I'll need around 850c for this.

He bought the full tank for $200. Filling it alone should be around $65, but unless you’re scouring Craigslist all day, a full tank would be hard to find for $65.

Anyone have a Karnage Welder? Looking for thoughts on it and to find out what kind of battery is in one to swap it out with LiFePo4

With a name like that, I'd run for the door. Never heard of it

What welder needs a battery? Am I confused? Yes.

I get you. That makes sense.

I've never used any of these battery welders, but I can't see a big issue. Practice on the most common items that trail fail and hope you never need( or do hope) so you can win all the praise from the team.

I've looked at a few, and non of them are built for everyday, all day use, but for emergencies, why not give it a go?

No matter the welding rig, the operator ability is going to be the deal sealer .

I’ve read to buy the HF one and build a better frame for it as the dies are fine.

In two weeks I’ll no longer have access to the shop I work at… will miss ALL of the things!

I don't. I'm running out of space for the tools I already have.
