wall>Tacoma (NEED HELP ASAP)

Well, guys, long story short, I got in a minor accident. No lawsuits, no claims, nothing. I'm paying for repairs but I don't know what's broken and I don't want to get swindled. Pics and a video are on the way. My driver's side tire is not connected to something causing the steering to not function. ALL help is greatly appreciated.

yea.. you got your tie rod or something broke.. Probably at the ball joint? Just a wag.
You'll need to get that fixed

But first it sounds like you need a scotch. Cause that thing aint gettin any more broker and you seem all freaked out.

In the video above, at the first part the steering wheel is straightened all the out. Throughout the video the person inside is turning the steering wheel to the driver's side, to the passenger's side, and back straight.

 

Looks like an issue with the tie-rod end and the LCA (In the first pic, compare the two adjustment bolts where the LCAs connect to the frame).

Tie rod looks ok. The pcs doesn't look to bad either. To new it looks like a bent spindle.

Looks like the tire is hitting the spindle. I'm assuming it wasn't like that before...

That will also mess with steering geometry and bind

 

well yea.. the tire's leaning right on the knuckle. I'm sure more than that has geometry problems.. but your knuckle/spindle or thereabouts is definitely bent up.
And good money has the wheel being bent, maybe control arm too. Though you never know it must be checked once you get a new drivers side 'spension put on there.


And does that thing have a boat motor in it?

 

The "damaged" tierod (i.e. driver's side) wiggles ALOT and is oozing a gel-like liquid. Obviously broken. Whereas the passenger's side is stiff and at a, what I assume, a "regular" angle.

 

Is the steering working at all. Looked like nothing was moving. Could you have possibly broken something in the steering column???

 

Maybe so. The steering wheel is EXTREMELY tough to even budge.

 

That's grease. Tie rod ends are cheap. Gonna need to take the wheel off and do some major checking of uca and mounts. LCa and mounts. But definately spindle. You have 6" lift so maybe the longer spindles bent easier and the wheel is ok but should still be checked.

 

That's where I'm fucked. I don't have jack stands nor an impact wrench. Guess I'll be spending an assload of money in shop fees, parts, and labor.

 

I'd pop the hood and see if you can see anything under there that's jacked up. Obviously somethings bent on the left front but the right front I would think would still work unless its all binded up. Not sure though

 

With a bent single the geometry is way off you will be trying to lift or lower the truck when you try to turn. It will be tough. Get a jack under the truck to support the weight and try it.

 

Yeah that spindle is fished, you need a new procomp spindle.

 

I got what you need bud, gimme a shout, I have a compressor, impact gun, air ratchet. Let me know if you need to borrow it. Jack stands too.
