The "Black Hills" from the looks of it. How close is this going to get? Should we bring some extra garden hose as well this weekend?

Some girls just have that nurturing instinct. I need it cuz I would live on fruit rollups and sushi and die of mercury poisoning

Well, I’m pretty sure another 1/2 mile down is private property, and they won’t take kindly to this kind of intrusion

@3pooches do you know if rangers/police monitor the fire roads pretty tightly if they’re closed off? It’d be kinda neat to see the blaze from a bit closer

I've been looking at the fire maps, and the whole backside away from you is going to. Couldn't find any reports on how far they intend to go. I would agree about the private land.

I have definitely seen some blazes up close to the point it was too hot to handle.

From the Deerfield Volunteer Fire Dept FB page:

    ·
Ignitions are underway on the 5862-acre Archer Knob prescribed burn located in Augusta County, VA on Great North Mountain, 2.7 miles southwest of Craigsville and seven miles northwest of Deerfield. The burn, which will likely be conducted over several days, will help maintain early successional species that favor open grass and shrubland habitats, as well as eradicate invasive species.
Phillips Lick Road (Forest Service Road 381), Hite Hollow Road (Forest Service Road 82), Archer Run Road (Forest Service Road 382), and the Hite Hollow shooting range may be temporarily closed during the burn. For your safety, please follow posted signs and comply with road closures when they occur.

I don't think anyone going down there is all that closer to me.

I'm still doing my NoVa church softball league, I'm at Braddock Park most Tuesday nights, not sure how far that is from you.

It's closer than Deerfield. How late are you typically there until?

I believe Mark will be a little bit closer than Ashburn. Mark, I should be able to make it out there before 9pm. Let me know next time you're there.

Is the stuff in questions small enough to fit in my motorcycle cases? If so, I drive "by" Daves on my way to/from school and can swing by to drop it off to him.

I plan on helping Chris with his wood and then putting around on two wheel if we get it completed.... anyone who wants to give the 250/125 a rip would be free to do so. I can grab the paint at the playground and swing by your place Tuesday between 1-3pm... if you're not there I'll just bury it somewhere and leave you the coordinates.
