I bet 50%? 80%? of the "off road goodies" on Tacoma's are never used. Or used just for the fun of it. I've had a '96 Tacoma, a '15 and now a '22. The '15 and '22 are both Sports. I've never once said "Oh god, if only I had a rear locking diff!", and I live in CO and do a lot of easy back country and tons of difficult snow driving. Yes, some people do use the features. But for 80% or more I think it is a waste. And I like the exterior trim of the Sport better. So win/win for me.

Its Certified Pre Owned so I dont think its a destination fee charge. I thought about the extra taxes but they are already charging him sales tax separately.

Chose the Sport because it was available with Access Cab + 6MT. The Off Road Access Cab you can only get an automatic, but the double cab you can get 6MT which makes no sense. I like the wheels, rear locker of the Off Road - but like the Sport Hood skewp and painted fender flares. Both have their pros and cons and all depends on what you'll use the truck for...

Time to cast your net in a larger area and out of state. Lots of success stories of those having to travel some (including myself) to get exactly what you want, especially in this new vehicle climate. Have you been monitoring the spreadsheet on which dealers have been getting ELM Pros?

Well... It finally happened. Stopped in at the dealership yesterday to preview and test drive my new 2022 Tacoma Limited, Nightshade Edition, DCSB after close to 5 months of waiting. Got $8,000 trade-in value on my 2006 Tacoma with 282,000 miles (I would've settled for $5000). Going to stop by my credit union this morning to pick up the cashier's check and officially take ownership of the truck. To all those still waiting, don't give up hope my friends, God's timing is always perfect.

Month long lurker of this thread and I have a question that I'm not sure if it's been asked.

I've got a deposit down (no allocation yet) at my local dealership who is selling at MSRP... but I've seen the advice of casting a wider net and I found a dealer 4 hours away with a TRD OR DCSB in Barcelona Red for MSRP... It's a week 13 build so being built pretty soon... They want a $500 non-refundable deposit... They can not be convinced otherwise, I tried to convince them by just adding the stipulation that if it's not ready by 2 weeks after the ETA, then I could have a refund on the deposit. What advice do you have? I'm not trying to lose $500 if I find something more suiting if that vehicle is significantly delayed. Dealership says they're normally on time... then I told him it's a week 13 build which is already a month late lol Any Advice?

Edit: Of course VSPEC on the temp vin stopped working this morning on that truck so I guess that's good news.

I'd have to read my P.O., but it does include a clause in it for essentially failure to deliver the vehicle. I'm not sure of thow much time must elapse, but it's in there.

I'd just put down the deposit and wait, these delays are entirely out of the dealer's control no matter which one you go with.

I put $1k down for mine, but I've still got feelers out at another dealer ship for the same truck but in Army Green. If they can snag me one I'll eat the deposit, but I can't not have the manual transmission which is why I jumped on a white one when I had the chance.

Funny enough I keep calling dealers near me and I keep finding MT's available. I like my MT on my Mustang, but I don't think I'd like it on a truck.

The real question is my deposit at my local dealership refundable... didn't sign anything and didn't think to ask.

For those of you who have bought your trucks, how did you end up getting the deposits back at other dealerships?

You shouldn't have to put a deposit down until they match you with an allocated truck. I just cant see any reason why they would need to do that. Once I had a truck lined up I payed a 500.00 deposit and in return received a signed purchase order. Now if I back out I lose my deposit which totally makes sense. If the vehicle is damaged or never makes it, those are the only two ways to get my deposit back. Imagine how much money some of these dealers are making off of the "non refundable deposits" just for putting people on their list. what a scam.

Mine did this for a day or so and then it worked. I think I got the permanent VIN pretty soon after it was created and something in Toyota's system wasn't ready yet.

Still sitting in F with no ETA...Hopefully, there is no delay, the original ETA before it disappeared was 5/6-5/11, so keeping my fingers crossed this remains true, so close can almost see the light at the end of the tunnel....
