Instead of buying a $400 lawnmower and having to put a couple hundred into bringing it back to life. I’ve decided to buy a $400 4x6 trailer and move around the mower I already have. Going to check it out this afternoon. Looks like a Lowes job but should check a lot of boxes.

 

Around here there are no $400 trailers with a title. Double that might get you junk on wheels and a title -- and people say Tacomas hold their value...

 

I’ve seen a lot of comments about “putting hours on the machine, it’ll drop its resale value…”.
WTF would you buy it if not to actually use it ? Never understood that phrase. much like buying a car, if you can’t drive it why buy it ?

 

Exactly. This is half the price of new and looks to be only 1-2 years old from the pictures. Person says title in hand. If not bill of sale and previous registration is all I need.

 

My state is a total P-I-A about titles and forget about titling a home built trailer - just isn't worth the hassle.

 

This is an extreme over zoom, but best pic I have of my just 'broken in' backhoe. Picking and moving large boulders. Installing a thumb would probably have saved me from this damage, but ya work with what ya got. I don't feel the least bit bad about it, just adds character. Check out the waffled steel just above the bucket pin.

Sub 100 hours. Bought a tractor to do tractor jobs.

 

Every operation is a calculated risk of some sort, most are within design parameters, others….weellllll.
Several years ago I put my B2400 up for sale to offset the purchase of HVAC for the house. ( tractor something I don’t need, but like having around)

One guy came to look, his first question was “will it dig ?”
That’s up to you, it’s called a loader, not a digger. If you can operate it the right way, it may well dig.

He didn’t like that answer

When he showed up I was in the middle of the biweekly blowing out and greasing, he asked if that was really nessesary “only if you want it to live more than a year or 2”
I blow out the radiator, engine, trans and mower deck every other mowing and grease all the spindles and pulleys. Grease is cheap, those parts are not.

 

That guy isn't worthy of your Kubota anyways.

I know they are only machines and money is green even if it comes from a dumb@$$, that said I hate to sell a nice machine to a dumb@$$.

 

You also have the "He sold me a piece of junk! It broke down 6mths after I bought it!" In that six months it was run hard with zero maintenance or oil level checks.

 

Speaking of Maintenance, I could look in the Service Manual I have, but I'm sure my tractor is due to have the coolant flushed. Is there a special Kubota Coolant I should be using? Or would any generally do?

Reason I ask before consulting the manual is the book is like 30 years old and I am wondering if any advancements in the world of coolant might be different now.

For a B4200.

 

I just use basic green 50/50 as it is usually all the jug for a drain and full
I’ve got a core plug with some corrosion on it but it’s from the outside I think
Your old tank will probably have a brass radiator on n it so green is probably best

 

Buddy of mine recently bought a Kioti tractor, teaching him the finer points, his box blade showed up today so he’s all excited to dig up the yard.

 

I forgot I had this one for sale. Moved it behind the shed last fall.

Got hit up for it today. Delivering it in the morning.

 

If you have scale buildup in the radiator I highly recommend Thermo-Cure flush. It has knocked a crapton of scale out of my 3205's radiator in a short time. Make sure to refill with distilled water if mixing your own antifreeze/water. The minerals in tap water accumulate in the radiator to build scale. Distilled has no minerals=no scale

 

I'll have to pop the cap and check it out, but it has to be scaled I would imagine.

One of the reasons I use 50/50 its already mixed with demineralized water and I don’t have to go messing with it.
When I fill a larger system I usually dump a gal of each then mix. Besides I usually have 50/50 on hand in my service van

 

Yep, for small capacities the 50/50 is a great choice. I cringe at all the radiators I topped off from the garden hose in the past. I just didn't know any better.

 

None of us did early on.
