I'll see if I can fix the pump this weekend before I go full stupid on redesigning the thing. That's the second pump it's had on it, so maybe the bottle jack design is the way to go as it's simpler in design and cheaper to replace.

Picked up a couple new co-pilots a few weeks ago.

Rescue said they were a heeler mix and a aussie shepard mix. Looking more like a heeler mix and a rotty mix, :notsure:

Drained the pump, removed all the removeable things, valves, check balls, springs.
shot it with brake cleaner, drained it again and blew it out with the compressor. Refilled it with fresh oil, over filled it onto the bench :annoyed: Hooked it up, bled the air, and it seems to work now. Still has some air in it, but I'll come back to it later and see if more can be bled out. Managed to bend 3/8" aluminum bar stock until it snapped.

After measuring for a possible new 20 ton bottle jack, and visualizing where that cradle will sit and float, I think I'd prefer to keep this as is, for now. There is more room to work and see what the hell you are breaking with this one.

Maybe drill in a new pressure relief valve or something so you don't run into this again?

Removing the fitting seemed to do the trick and really wasn't all that dramatic, just messy. The old oil was the color of coffee, I feel that may have been part of the problem, it needed serviced. The press is prolly 40 years old and that replacement pump is close to 20 and it was used when I got it.

Bonnie and Clyde, seriously, that's their names. No serious trouble, yet. Just the typical, "it fits in the mouth, so must chew it", and trying to learn what is acceptable in this family type of stuff.

Clyde has been adding 2-2.5 lbs a week. 13 lbs last week of Feb, 35 last saturday. I'm hoping he keeps it under 100 lbs, but either way he'll be a BIG boy.

We're almost a year out for completion so hopefully some of that will be a non-issue when the time comes.
It's been pretty bad in my current neighborhood though with homes waiting on appliances, garage doors, etc.

It's insanity here, people are going 150-500k over asking on resales for almost everything. Just fking stupid

Edit: oh and some of the builder are even making buyer bid for new homes. Starting price and then treating it like an auction. Pretty shitty for new builders to do that, but it's people's own fault for going along with it I guess

Yeah, I gave up on my house hunt here.

According to the Colorado Association of Realtors, the median Colorado single-family home price topped $500k for the first time in April of last year(2021).

    • In February 2022, the median price in the Colorado housing market (statewide) was $555,540, up +19.5% year-over-year.
    • The Average Sales Price was $696,788, up 17.8%.
    • Percent of List Price Received = 102.9%.
    • Days on Market Until Sale = 32, down -20%.
    • Closed sales of single-family homes were down by 9.7%.
    • Months supply was down by 44.4% to 0.5 months.
    • Inventory of Active Listings dropped by 40.9% year-over-year.
    • New Listings also dropped by 9.8% year-over-year, which shows a decrease in seller optimism.

There should be a not like button for this.
Hopefully a good slow down on RE is coming soon and you can get back on the hunt.

This is total crap, a young person like Alec should be able to find affordable, nice, housing to purchase. Colorado was a great state to live in, now it's starting to be questionable.

do it we are planning on two 8’ and a 14’ for our build. Might go with 10’ depending on cost and availability.

not yet but they do have a decent wait/backorder springs are an issue for some of the smaller mom and pop installers. Planning on order these hopefully like in the next couple weeks.

It's not like my budget is "small" either. Pre-approved up to $750k but only want to spend $500k max, ideally less then $450k.. Half a million dollars for my first house is absurd though, and on the cheaper end of the market too.

Bid on a nice townhown for $480k. Was the first offer, at asking price. Buyer didn't take it, took the 3rd or 4th offer for $40k over asking. Like, what is the point of putting it at $480k if you want more than that?
