Doesn't matter which trim, the manual is the standard transmission The auto is a $2k option.

Well I've only had it a year so the jury is still out.

My last vehicle was a Ford and it was dead at hundred sixty-five thousand miles. I'm used to getting 300-plus k out of Fords but I guess that's the old ones like the Broncos and Bronco 2.

I don't understand why the Tacoma v6 engine is so noisy. Sounds like a diesel. My wife has a Highlander with essentially the same V6 and it so much smoother. Same direct injection and everything.

2022 Tundra turbo issues has entered the chat.

I generally agree with what you are saying. I think Toyota is feeling the pressure of the American market and it's love for specs and HP/Torque numbers. If they only understood that 95% of Tacoma owners don't care.

Oh, don't I know that they aren't. I lost my 99 to the rusty frame buyback.

Disc brakes are safer then drum brakes and they are much better for Towing. Disc brakes do a better job of managing Heat and they perform better in wet conditions.

But you can believe whatever you want. If you think drums are so wonderful put them on the front of your car. Toyota doesn't put drums on the back of the Tacoma for any other reason than to save money.

Now that's quite a response. I can see why you liked that article, with all the speculation.

I've only been driving Tacomas for almost 8 years, but I've never run into a braking issue yet. Including yesterday when somebody in a Frontier tried to change lane into me on the highway.

Full size rear Drums brakes tend to work better with a truck fitted with a manual transmission in situations where you need full braking power from a “parking brake” when doing a hill starts etc. It’s those situations where the micro-drum brakes, or push button electric brakes, they use in rear disk applications don’t work as well. They are strong enough for a car, but not strong enough, or as controllable, for a pickup that might be towing or laden, when doing a hand-brake-assisted hill start.

When drums go, so does the MT.

My Land Cruiser has a rear disc/drum setup. I'd say they will go this route.

I've towed at altitude, traffic, rain, snow, mud, and summer. Trailer in picture has nearly 40k miles on it. Haven't experienced drum fade yet.

I'm cool with cost cutting. Who do you think pays for all these wish list upgrades? The seller or the buyer?

This is the most logical answer. I think we'll see a new 4runner before a new tacoma

Tacoma owners before the rumor of the next gen being a 4 cyl single turbo:
"No way I would ever drive a 4 cyl single turbo in a truck.!"

Tacoma owners after the rumor of the next gen being a 4 cyl single turbo:
"The turbo Tacoma is going to be awesome! I can't wait for it to get here!"
