Disconnecting my Tacoma battery for about a week while on vacation. Would it hurt in anyway?

No idea. Probably not great, but I think the goal is a visible deterrent. Disabling the battery won't be noticed until they break in and try to start and then you probably have damage plus whatever else they decide to do. Grinding will be more obvious and more time and a parking boot might lead them to think it's being impounded or something, which might help deter.

 

Another possible deterrent:

Put a note on the window for the "tow truck driver" along the lines of, "as we discussed on the phone, the rear differential is locked up. Please be careful when loading so as to not cause more damage. Thanks."

Might cause a thief to think twice about stealing a damaged vehicle.

 

Pulling a single fuel injection fuse will disable the truck.

Try this? Just kidding… in todays world you’d probably end up sued for damaging the assh@les hearing….

 

It does reset your trip computers after half a day and some menu presets and tank fuel economy.

Cannot confirm if it resets your transmission computer presets.

 

Not sure what a mini grinder is. But my 60V battery powered DeWalt with 7 in cut off wheel would make quick work of it. Most of those (if not all) are not hardened steel.

 

I think any grinder or bolt cutter would cut through that key lock and the rest just comes apart.

 

Take the battery our most thieves do carry extra batteries.

Pull the EFI fuse and the engine will crank but injectors will never pulse and it'll never fire. Also handy if you ever want to prime the oil pump using the starter motor (as stated in the service manual).

 

It will do nothing. Including reducing its theft potential.

 

Mini grinder is just another name for a 4.5" angle grinder. Easier to say than " Hey bud! hand me that Dewalt 20V Max Li-Ion 4 1/2" Cordless Angle Grinder".

 

Also, add drilling into your gas tank to the list of concerns.
