    I'm on 245/75r16 now. Specifically, Toyo AT/III SL-rated.

LLVs go like 20 mi avg per day or something so the concerns of electric battery range or charging multiple vehicles simultaneously are moot for a lot of USPS locations

I can’t tell if you’re saying they should not.

I think they should go electric for fleet vehicles like this for sure

I agree, I think the majority of the USPS fleet should be electric

of course there will be exceptions for rural areas

I almost pulled the trigger on one of those but went this route instead. Something to look at. For me the vertical band saw could do 90% of what I needed the cold saw to do.

    @Abeyancer

I'm hearing that breakers are on low supply.

Anyway, should I go searching for a 50amp or 60amp?

The fortunate thing is, I have a straight shot to my panel so I'll only need about 3 feet of wire, thinking 6awg or is that overkill?

A 6-50R would be what I need for my welder?

That's freaking awesome! Did you make that table yourself?

I was contemplating going that route as well, since I already have a corded dewalt bandsaw but I need something with a vise since I cut these couplers to a thiner profile most frequently images (14).jpg

However the rest of my cuts are either 1" stainless bar max or flat bar stock no wider than 4" and no thicker than 3/8". That bandsaw setup would probably work perfectly for that

Fuck dude, breakers are sooooo limited nationwide it's crazy. I have some on order from Dec with our supplier and they're still back ordered :bananadead:

Which welder have you settled on? In my experience a 50A is usually enough but will depend completely on the machine you have/are getting. Also what kind of wire are you looking at? THHN is solid copper and commonly the type found in romex. If the machine says 50A is good then #6 THHN is overkill, cause it's good for 75A. #8 THHN is good for 55A

It's for current one I already have.

    20220429_113959.jpg

Specs call for 30amp if 120V, and 50amp for 240V. I don't plan on running 120 (it comes with an adapter).

I guess that answers my question to just go with a 50amp breaker. Didn't realize not all are interchangeable but some are so I can run Eaton, Siemens, and a few other.

I'll go with 8 then. Just wanted to be safer than sorry. Not like I'll ever run 100% on my machine anyway but even then it looks like I'll have a safe overhead.

    So solid it is.

Yea you never want to install a breaker larger than what a machine calls out at max. Worst case scenario a machine will catch fire when used with a breaker too large cause it won't trip before shit starts frying lol

#8 will work perfectly since it's maxed out at 55A, the breaker will trip before the wire ever gets hot enough to go all melted melty

yeah lol when I put in my subpanel last year it took a while to get the 70 or 100 amp breaker I needed. I think i had to wait a couple weeks

Damn, that's crazy! The manufacturers must have competing plants in the same area cause it doesn't seem to matter who you buy it from, they're all backordered
