I found the lense on the passenger side had a crack in it - no leakage. Dealer wanted to charge me for a new light which was obviously caused by over tightening from factory. I decided to buy the light on line and do the work myself - only to later find the dealer mod for a "no-leak" situation was to add the plastic bezel rim ring with sealer. I can't find the plastic bezel trim ring anywhere and the dealer is of no help since I would not let them replace the light at my cost. Anyone here know the PN for the no-leak plastic trim ring ? (not the foam gasket) TIA

Says right in the recall that the dealer might have to REPLACE the light. You shouldn't have to pay for it. Print out the recall and highlight the area where it states this and bring it to the misinformed dealer

The dealer will only replace the light if interior water damage is found. According to the tsb, the trim gasket isn't supposed to be needed if the light is replaced with the updated light that has the thicker gasket, but do what works for you.

    https://www.toyoheadquarters.com/th...eak-limited-service-campaign-lsc-21td03.2280/

"**Note: Parts needed will be dependent on inspection results. If a vehicle requires a new Center High-Mounted Stop Lamp Assembly, the vehicle does NOT require the repair kit nor the hardware kit. Refer to the technical instructions for more detail. Any work needed to replace interior components damaged by the water leak resulting from this condition will require prior approval by FTS through website submission requiring photos."

This. Exactly my case. No leak no leak repair. I even had the LSC in hand hoping they would cut me some slack. Not.

investigation on my part says the listed parts are foam gasket with sealer and adhesive kit/tool - no plastic trim piece. although the Dealer data/picture are vague. ??

I think you mistaking the trim piece for a gasket. There is no gasket that is replaced.

This picture shows both "kits" The sealant and tool are the "HW" part # and the bezel and the stencil are in the plastic bag

True, I replaced the complete light with the new version - I don't need a gasket only the trim piece - but neither of the two items listed indicate they are the plastic trim according to the dealer description. I will look again - I certainly could be wrong.

Thanks for the clarification - I will go back to my dealer on-line parts department and see if I can order the bezel only - I have sealer and caulking tool.

Please do - I would like to be sure.

well Rat F'k - dealer just called and said they won't sell me the trim - even though I replaced the light (which did not leak but had a crack in it). Total Cluster dance. Parts manager said he would see if there is a way to sell. He said the trim piece is associated with the LSC - so if you don't qualify you can't purchase it. Looks like one of you lucky people has a dealer that is less by-the-book. @TacoSupremo19

Yep, been there. Dealers won't sell the parts, because they can make more from Toyota doing the TSB. I've been told no by 3 local dealers and had a couple dealers cancel my online orders. Here's my suggestion:
Enter the part numbers on Walmart's website and look for a seller by the name of Fred Haas Toyota out of Texas. See below...

yep dealer shot me down - their solution was for me to reinstall the old broken brake light, bring it in and pay for a new light and then they would allow the trim to be purchased/installed. Not happening. Moving on to your solution or to simply wait until the LRC is expired and then buy trim. Truly a $$ grab for the dealers.

Well, that's not true. My Vin is part of the recall and I did receive a notice. I did not have any evidence of the light leaking and told the dealer that. They said better safe than sorry, made an appointment and got it done.
