I was able to talk with Phil! Heres some info FWIW.

He submitted the same order to 3 different laser cutters to get panels cut. He noted that even if multiple places cuts the same batch, at least 75% of those can get reused on other orders. My camper #164 is first one to go to powdercoat once ready. The shipment of back panels for people who ordered the door should be in soon as well. No firm dates as to when I should expect mine, but this next “batch” is going to be big.

LOL  This made me laugh so hard

I absolutely LOVE my Ram. Selling my Tacoma and going full size was the best decision I made :D

After having our kid I was super back and forth with going full size or keeping my Tacoma. Was looking at going with an F350 but ultimately decided that a lot of the places we go to in the PNW would be pretty much inaccessible with a full size without completely destroying it. The interior space would be unreal though.

Edit: And there’s no way I’m waiting for another camper to be built lol

Absolutely. I did the PNW in my tacoma and pinstriped it bad, especially on those overgrown Oregon trails. I wouldn’t even take my Ram down those, I’d take the whole trail with me. I’m not a huge PNW person though…those pesky skeeters in Bend ate me alive :censored::frusty:

Just putting it out there but is anyone selling their VO spot? Mine would be for a 2006 Tundra Double Cab so hoping I could switch the order to the Nomad. Obviously would prefer a build spot that is closer to "build date" whatever that means wit VO lol.

you can easily switch to a nomad if they haven't started building it, that's what i did when i got a full sized truck, you just pay the price difference on the final invoice

Thanks! I think I have to be one of the last pickups from this batch so hoping I can provide an update on the next one when I get back.

Remember that 2 week period a couple months ago when everyone seemed to be getting campers or updates? Seems we’re back to ‘normal’. Hopefully this batch is started to finish up since it seems it should take about 2-3 months for each batch.

FWIW, I still haven’t heard anything and was told more than once it shouldn’t be an issue getting my camper “by June” as I can’t pick it up any later than that very easily.

With that said, Phil also said that if they didn’t have it ready by June he could “probably” deliver it to Overland Mountain West and do an install there. So it seems they are putting forth an effort to get people their campers. I still think a lot of us are a little curious as to if the process could be done more efficiently to get supplies in quicker.

Either way, it’s been years since VO’s inception and there are still only 1, maybe 2, other options that are comparable for what I want…

The best thing we could hear is that the panels are cut out and sent to powdercoat already. Best case scenario.

Edit: well best case is they are back from powdercoat already, but i'll settle for either

Ya totes. Anyone else looking for a specific update? DM me for what I should keep my eyes peeled for. IIRC someone is waiting on a Tern back door?

FWIW they’re heading to Overland Expo West a week from tomorrow so the shop might be fairly packed up…
