My only Barstow memory is being 16 on a cross country drive with a friend and breaking down on the side of the interstate and being towed into Barstow. It was so rough. We left in the middle of the night, packed our belongings into our surfboard bags and walked though desert to a train station and left for the coast. Came back a week later for my truck.

The tow truck driver and then the mechanic both were like, you don't want to stay here...one said," You know who Erin Brockovitch is? Well, that story is about here. Oh and don't drink the water or get ice cubes." haha

She is a saint for putting up with my shenanigans. She is in love with the van so it makes it all easier.

We have an R56 with the N18 engine and three pedals. Great cars for the money. Be warned, there's no room in the engine back and parts are overly complicated. Replacing the thermostat was, a thing. The wiper blades, only available from one vender.... But it's the wife's car and what were we saying? Yeah she is happy with it.

barstow has the hill of doom! I always called it the car killer. If your car can make it up and over the ridge to Vegas in the summer, it can make it anywhere!

On the way back, we ended up at this sketch ass gas station in Vegas. Bathrooms were locked and the attendant inside was behind bullet proof glass :bananadead:
