This happened to me at low speed from a stop. I also think it was an instance where the transmission got confused and downshifted from 2nd to 1st and the truck lunged forward and wanted to go. Lasted about two seconds but scared the shit out of me. Hasn’t happened again.

Happened to me too, suggestion. Go to dealer and get ECU updated.

Yet another reason why I dont drive auto. MT all the way and I don' t have to worry about transmission shifting on its own. So glad I bought my TOR with MTo_O

This happens to me a couple times a week. Same thing. Accelerates for 3-4 seconds after I come off the gas.

This is scary. It needs to be looked at asap. Something is clearly not right.

Make sure the engine is fully warmed up before taking off. Sometimes you'll drive a short distance before coming to a stop...the engine will pick up rpm as its not up the running temps.

This actually happens after I’ve been driving for about 45 minutes. So issues when cold.

Is it happening only when you run the ac, or all the time?

    Yeah.
The transition when the VVT kicks in can be pretty abrupt, and the truck accelerates noticeably quicker. It's possible that it was transitioning right when you lifted and it took a second to transition back.

Haven’t paid attention to that. I’ll try both ways. From what I can remember the AC is on. It’s always when I come to the summit of a hill and begin descending. I’ll take my foot off the gas to coast down the hill and it’ll keep accelerating for a few seconds until I hit the brake or give the gas a quick pump.

I've also had what feels like a delayed response when letting off the accelerator at times. I've also noticed I can quickly tap my accelerator pedal down more than inch and the engine will not rev. Just ignores me. I only really notice this when I have to park with extra precision for some reason. Makes me think there is something wrong with the accelerator or throttle body, But the symptoms I'm describing would almost certainly throw code(s) if that where the case.

I'll notice on my 2020 tacoma when on a flat grade, or going downhill using the ac there is a slight jump in engine rpm at times, and then it clicks off as your driving. Its normal as my tundra did the same when using the ac.

@JimBeam For clarification, this thread, plus the 3 others. I don't think there's any debate why the recent threads were locked; mod bashing doesn't really do anything. I think the cry is bc the 1st thread listed below disappeared, and speculation is that this current thread had a lot of posts "cleaned up" although I can't confirm. Any insight on the first threads disappearance? I think that's the reason for the outcry.
