The fact that they haven’t gotten back to you in a week, a whole week, shows they don’t give a damn about you. I’m shocked.

I would have had one or two sit downs with the service manager by now. I suggest you do the same. Your being too passive on this.

Or, and hear me out...the dealership is quietly taking care of everything behind the scenes and will call OP once everything has been resolved and they are ready to give him a new engine or whatever the remedy is

If the service managers truck was damaged by the Lexus dealership,I guarantee he would not be able to go a week with no contact and hope they were taking care of the issue.... that’s absurd to be honest.

Most personal auto/homeowners policies contain "no benefit to bailee" clauses as well as exclusions for negligent work product (repairs performed by others) to avoid extending coverage for shops/mechanics/repair people who should have their own liability policies. YMMV of course depending upon what OP's actual policy contract reads but I think it's unlikely.

OP you've handled this very well so far. Wait until they play their first card before you play yours. Be patient and listen to what they say first. There are lots of people here that tell you "demand this, demand that" and from my experience that's not a winning strategy. I'm always amused by these threads where some yutz advises "demand a brand new truck and nothing less" - all that will do is notify the other side that you are a major problem and they'll double down on CYA on their end, and any leeway they had (or desire) to cut you a break went straight out the window. They'll do what their legal counsel says, no more and no less.

Tuned in to see how this goes. Luck to you OP!

Your warranty would not be voided, they just would not cover anything related to your mistake though.

I would ask to speak to the dealership owner, and ask what the status is.

I am pretty sure that my Ford dealer turned in my airbag replacement to Ford and the government and didn't touch my Mustang. They didn't have it in the shop for ten minutes and sure didn't show me the old one. Just glad I never found out whether they did or not, by way of needing it to work.

It went in spurts depending on the new hires, we had that rash then and 1 about 2yrs later. It's not that common but when it happens it seems like every dealer hears about it because of reminders to pay attention to correct filters no over or under tightened drain plugs. Alot of canister filters then not many had the cartridge types. I would believe with 7000 on the clock your remedy will be a new engine. It's getting one that will be interesting, if it's new I wouldn't expect an extended warranty will be offered. New being new not rebuilt. If as some suspect you did an oil change it wasn't having problems before it was brought in, if there was most protocol calls for contacting you prior to starting work for you to sign off on. I always checked for a stripped plug and paid attention to it coming out if threads of metal were show it was stopped and the service writers was called to the back. Then you would have been asked to pay for an oversized plug or new pan if we weren't the last to touch it.

    Yeah.
Well, what I am hoping they are doing is filling it properly with oil, running it (driving around under load) for a bit, and then sending the oil in for independent analysis. If it were my truck, I'd expect that as proof if they want to say it seems fine. If the analysis comes back fine, it's likely OK, but I'd still want an extended warranty. If it comes back with abnormal results, it's new engine time.

Unique views would be of more interest. The same twenty subs viewing many of thousands of time’s isn’t even mildly interesting.

They probably got pretty good at it swapping a zillion of them. My Ranger was in for about 15 minutes.

I can't imagine they'd take on the liability of pretending to change a recalled airbag.

Thank you for the insight. Just to clarify I had not changed the oil previously in the truck. My truck was taken in on the week of its one year purchase anniversary for its first oil change just shy of 7,000.

Still no word. As I posted a couple days ago a delay does not surprise me. If I don’t hear anything soon I’ll be making contact myself.

True, they're going to let a senior tech look at it and they might be in the middle of something or on vacation for instance

I reckon it takes longer from the time a vehicle gets to the door for a senior tech to free up versus a rookie in more cases than not. Plus that senior tech is going to take their time and be thorough. Just 2 of many reasons.

I waited 2-3 weeks to get the actual ok for my frame despite my knowing I was within the timeframe, did my prior inspection in time, each of the 2 holes was over the minimum size to fail (and that's just what I could see from the outside without getting under), etc etc. I showed the bigger hole to the service tech who took me in and said "I know you have to follow a process but I'm hoping to save you lifting it if you don't have to and risking anyone's safety". He said they have to send pics etc but just what he can see, while he can't approve, would be shocked if it wasn't.
