I've spoken with them extensively about doing it, and then life happened. I've got two heads, two sets of cams, a spare block, everything for the turbo build except the time and now the money.

It tends to happen like that. I’m trying to keep this thing NA for a while, so is it possible to do those without the turbo?

You could, but you wouldn't see much benefit of the large valves. Any major modifications would really require getting it tuned afterwards to see the benefit.

Would that be a standalone ecu or piggyback? As far as I know, you can’t really tune the stock ecu

That's correct, a few guys in the turbo bs thread have map3ecu's, and a few others have gone to haltech like I plan on doing.

Just replaced those pesky bulbs in the climate control unit again…and this time I had to completely disassemble the unit to get the left bulb out

Hey Y’all, long time, no see. I have found a awesome build by Stupid hurts. here on TW that I want to kind of emulate. How would y’all get my rig to about this height?

My guess would be new springs and struts up front along with some upper A-Arms if you can. Lifted leafs and shocks in back, maybe shackles if they make 'em. Another idea would be to find some Pre-Runner or 4wd take offs from another truck. That should get you the look you want pretty quick, may even perform pretty darn well too. I put 2020 Tacoma TRD Pro coil-overs on the front of my FJ, lots of these Toy parts can interchange, it's just a little Google homework..

I agree, the problem is, my rig is a 5 lug, along with Stupid Hurts build. I’m trying to figure out what he used at this stage in his build

Pre-Runner or 4wd takeoffs struts will not work on your 5 lug.

That’s what I thought. In his build, he uses total chaos stuff, but that’s discontinued now and it doesn’t look like that at that stage.

That's balls! How could it differ that much other than the hub assembly? A-arms, coils, etc. gotta be interchangeable huh?

Not even close unfortunately. The control arm mounting points are different between the 5 lug suspension and the 6 lug suspension. Same with the struts. The geometry of the control arms and everything is changed. The only thing that can be swapped is the leaf springs.

It’s a headache to go either lift or drop in a 5 lug

Drop is not a headache. Lift probably is, but keep in mind a lift will drastically change the way your truck handles on the highway, as well as on-road.

Old school 2WDs are better left alone suspension wise. I would buy one with a leaf removed before one with added. Gotta remember, if you want a 4WD, just get it but if you prefer your truck over everything else (like cars), just enjoy it for what it is. That said, nothing wrong with you opening it up & letting it breathe like your header add. Most us older guys just got too stupid or have driven too many places and so we eventually need 4WD )(cause we're NOT doin' that again), that truck will never be that, accept it and love it or sell it and go 4WD. Trade you this T100 in a hot second for that truck ;) Quads are for mud, trucks are for work, and haulin' quads.

I'll echo what trck said, it's not too bad to lower these really. Between DJM and SOS, there's a few variety of options. Not to mention the guys figuring out how to adapt Viking coilovers to fit relatively painlessly. As far as lift, last I remember you either had OME (old man emu) or fat bob for our five lugs. I think the biggest fat bob lift was 3 inches?
