I can’t wait to see how the new Morimotos compared with @crashnburn80’s testing too, and am still anxiously awaiting someone to make a fog kit for 21+ F150’s to replace the useless oem fogs, halogen for me but the oem LED’s are supposed to be equally bad.

We are making an A-Pillar kit for the 21+ F150, but nothing for the fogs currently in the works admittedly. I don't really understand why Ford couldn't do a better job here though...I have a new Bronco and the OE LED headlights are garbage (in fact, they're so bad it killed their ability to be an IIHS top safety pick)....thankfully I was able to fix that with a prototype set of our new Bi-LED headlights.

OF course my Bronco is also stacked with 4Bangers, albeit way more than anybody could ever need.

Interesting bit of kit... Are Broncos able to take advantage of universal 7" headlights or are they totally different?

@MattKossoff this is my concern as well. Every product I've looked at bearing the Morimoto name has multiple documented reports of problems on this forum. The only one I've ever purchased, MESO's v5 mirror turn signals, required that I institute 2 replacement requests in order to receive a fully functional product and consumed multiple bench tests and partial installs on my part which amounts to a handful of hours wasted.

I know firsthand how challenging it can be to produce products and deal with problems. I personally work very hard to eliminate trouble on what I send out and I know it's not possible to achieve a zero failure rate. But your company's record on quality is, to be blunt, extremely poor compared to your competitors. To improve upon that requires scrutiny on build / manufacturing not lip service and boasting about test results.

I agree the design on many of these products is great and I would welcome an entry into the 2000-2006 Tundra headlight category from Morimoto, though I can see how the small segment makes it a tough value proposition. I really do wish Morimoto would chase some of these older vehicle segments because the enthusiasts would be thrilled and the competition is nonexistent.

However, I simply cannot in good faith purchase another Morimoto product until these significant problems with manufacturing are addressed.

It’s really sad to see what is clearly thoughtful design executed so poorly. Your bi-LED product is interesting but I cannot take anything you say at face value due to the BS I face when considering purchasing something branded by Morimoto. Hence I think 100% of what you say is useless drivel. Sorry but that is my opinion based on personal experience.

TLDR, your credibility is a 0 in my book.

Dave - fully respect your opinion. However, I should make it clear that the problem with the V5 Mirror signals you bought was actually a MESO problem, not a Morimoto problem. They contracted us for the optic and PCB, which were delivered to MESOs factory, who provided the external housing, performed final assembly, and quality control. Turned out that the housing [that they made/installed] was pressing the optic into the PCB, which is what was causing the failures. Really had nothing to do with us. That said, @MESO is a great partner, makes tons of kick ass products, but I'm sure Stew would tell you the same.

I also appreciate the recognition when it comes to our design capabilities, but regret that it doesn't add up to anything credible on your end. Can I send out a handful of other products for your Tundra, help change that? No charge

Out of all the stuff you guys are creating right now, the most interesting to me is the Retrobright assemblies. I have an old Volkswagen project that I'm interested in for them, but lighting is the last thing on the list to getting it back on the road.

I think your in-house products have more potential than the imported resale stuff.

Big agree on this. Waiting and monitoring before I consider ponying up for my bro in law’s Freightliner. I’ve driven it in the dark of night in thick fog and felt terrified of hurting someone I don’t see until it’s too late. The 4x6 is a real challenge, no space to work with. If Morimoto is looking for an intense real world test environment, I may have one with our 28 hour horse hauls along I5.

@daveeasa a quad setup with 4x6 Retrobrights, 2 with the euro yellow lens would be a killer all around setup for the truck. Quad low and high beams too

IIRC, the test data was not impressive? I may be mis remembering though. I’ll have to hunt for it.

Here's a quick and dirty head-to-head for 7 inch rounds. Of course, it's Headlight Revolution using what I'm pretty sure is still an incandescent lux meter, so take it with a grain of salt.

Yea, they are much better than an old sealed beam while retaining the same classic appearance, but there are other sealed beam options with projectors that will produce a bit more output. The Morimoto Sealed4 would be my pick if you want the most output as long as you don’t mind the more modern styling

Don't worry. Headlight Revolution and "objective testing" are rarely used in the same sentence around here.

I was literally just looking for information about the "backlight" option for DD SS3 foglights and saw this. So, the backlight won't actually work without tapping into something else with a T harness? I mean this makes sense but was not clearly defined anywhere so I guess I hoped It would just work plug n play.

I knew I wanted yellow, now I know I don't need to bother with the backlight (assuming I read your post correctly). Now do I get sport to be cheap or commit to the Pros? Hmmm
