The first dealership I ever bought from was my first Tacoma, a 10 year old 1st gen. No matter what trick the dealer tried, I stubbornly stuck with my only reply: "I need it to be 10k out the door." Eventually he relented, did whatever number-juggling he needed to, and it worked out. Still felt like I had to take a shower after I left though. Ugh, dealers.

When we bought our Baja in Mechanicsville VA, we told the salesman we weren't trading anything in. Worked out the deal that made us happy. As they were getting everything written up we said "come to think of it we won't need this Honda if we have this truck" and we worked out a deal to sell them the Honda. Two separate deals. They probably didn't like that....

Nice! When I got my wife a new(er) Accord we negotiated the price and then I did the same thing. "Oh btw would you be interested in buying her old one?" I already knew what I could get selling privately and they actually beat that price, win-win.

If i can get actual $27k for the truck, i'm sold. I'll defintely watch the numbers game. Confirm the price of the truck as listed is $58.5k before, and final price of truck before taxes, title, license is $32k. they list a $600 dealer fee. And if they're honest, it's done. I paid $31k for the truck with the supercharger on it 6 years ago, so seems fair to me. Also going from a 93k mile truck to a 7k mile truck with lots of warranty will be nice.

One vehicle I bought a long time ago was hilarious. Over the course of a couple days and 3-4 hours of my time. We’d settle on a price and then I’d needle him for some more off. They kept lowering it little by little. After it was said and done, I tried again and he slammed his hands down on his desk and said if your not gonna buy the fucking car get the fuck out of here!!…….(I knew was gonna happen at some point.) My reply was listen dumb dumb, ever time I haggle, your lower it. Somwhy wouldn’t I keep trying. I’ve got you to lower it 4300 so far………yeah I’ll take it I said. It was safe to say that was lowest he was gonna go.

i absolutely hate haggling. Just tell me your number and I'll tell you if I'm good with it. I always go the internet route first and if they won't give me numbers over email that seem appealing, I simply won't go in to their dealership.

I will play devils advocate here for a minute. Let's say someone on TW offered you $30K for your current truck and you were just going to buy the Tundra outright with no trade in. Would you be ok paying $58.5 for the Tundra?

Best thing I found is to call your bank and ask for the loan dept. tell them what your looking at and they will use their Black book. The real black book, not the nonsense you find online. Only banks, dealerships, and auctioners get this. Your bank can tell you what you should be paying from a dealer, private seller, and what you should be selling your car for privately or to a dealer on trade.

Ah yes, the bible that all used car managers use as their guide. New ones come out every month, although there is probably an app for that now.

yes. For the 2021 Tundra TRD Pro with 7k miles, that is a fair deal. Doing a max area search it seems most of those are still selling around $60-63k.

When is it a good deal? When the customer believes they are getting a good deal.

I just canceled on the Tundra Pro. Possibility I'll be moving for a new job in a few months, to TX. So I'm gonna need the Platinum that has cooled seats. Not available on the Pro. So back to looking around. Truck still for sale, $36000

Talk to @RyanL about aftermarket cooled seats. He did it up right.

Definitely trim the fenders. What are you running? 305’s or 315’s??

I’m curious if I can pull off 33x12.5’s or 305/7017’s with my setup. I have a cmc and can trim a little more if needed. If I could trim the fenders it wouldn’t be an issue.

I fit 305's with the stock trd pro wheels on 1.25" spacers and could drive on the street without a full fender trim, but to go offroad I had to take 1" off the flares and body.
