Funny though I did have a feeling I could catch up and watch how it handled the fairly windy roads. Definitely was cruising (sorry owner if you are on here and we’re annoyed by a black van that was somewhat close to you for a bit )

Yeah, there is more of a gap with a flatbed - the bottom of my bed is right at the beltline of the cab and the one above seems to be a few inches higher. I'd agree that the boxes are integrated pretty well. Not sure what the white connector next to the outrigger mount is for - almost looks like it would be the stock sink drain?

Haha - I mean.. dirt roads are fun. I was just cruising and take pics of the scenery when a Kimbo "happened" to get in the way. Lol

The plug looked like a drain of some sort given the location. Didn't creep hard enough to peer inside though :)

Looks like its the flatbed that has it sitting up. A great setup though. Curious what the fan is for on the propane door. Really want to see the inside.

Hey Folks--just joined the Kimbo club today! Been eyeing them for over a year now and read ALMOST every post in this thread. Some great stuff here--thanks to everyone who shared. I picked my Kimbo up used--second owner--and am carrying it on a 2021 Tacoma with a stock suspension, E-Rated tires, and Firestone airbags on Daystar cradles. Looking forward to many adventures this summer and beyond!

I'm sure hoping so! Got a busy summer at work, but things will loosen up a little in July. It appears the "adventures" may have already begun. Noticed she was listing a bit to the starboard side when I drove her into town today. Checked underneath and one of my airbags was flat. It seems to be holding air for the moment, so must be a slow leak. Had a weekend camping trip planned, but looks like the camper will be coming off instead to troubleshoot the leaky bag.

A young guy in Anchorage bought it from Kimbo last summer and drove it up from Bellingham to Alaska. He had a change of plans for this summer, so we worked out a deal! Lightly used and well-maintained. Couple of mods I'm looking at already are adding an awning and some sort of ski rack to the jack mounts. But gotta figure out the damn leaking airbag first!

Anyone able to get their Washington sales tax back after buying the Kimbo from out of state?

Yeah I loose about 5psi in the port side over the course of couple of weeks. I little bike pump in the glove box works well.

I went with the Ute flatbed, one of the only companies that I could find that makes a flatbed for Tacoma, which is a company out of Australia. For the tool boxes, it took some time to find the right dimensions to fit between the camper and flatbed that would fit 4 pairs of skis on 1 side and 2 pairs of boots, 7 gallon water tank, and a propane tank on the other, but found a company out of Kentucky I believe. All assembled myself. I loved the sherptek version but thought their price was absurd, so I was able to put this setup together for less than 5K. I moved the propane tank to the side and installed the Joolca hottap into the propane bay. So the fan on the propane door is to vent the hot water heater. And the white dot above the propane is a drain line I installed for the sink.

The space between the camper and the truck cabin is because the flatbed sits on crossbars on top of the chassis, which lifted the flatbed about 5” higher than the stock composite bed. Annoyed with the gap at first, but have plans to turn it into additional storage.

Inside I installed 2 Rotopax 2 gallon jugs for quick drinking water for a total of 11 gallons of drinking, showering, cooking, washing bikes, etc. I also wanted a 2nd bed for other friends to stay in the camper but also didn’t want to lose the floor space, so i created a table/bed platform that is removable. An additional shelf for storage above the cooler & installed a medicine cabinet with a mirror for the wife, and a kitchen area with the biggest stove and sink combo I could fit in their. Every top is butcher block which is helpful for cooking. I use the Yeti battery to power the basics in the camper & have a Max Oak Bluetti on the floor to power the cooler and all the battery toys. Still working on a few projects, will post and update when finished. Happy to answer any other questions too!

Get a spray bottle with some soapy water in it - I'd check the lines as they enter the couplers...if the lines are not cut nice and square, they'll leak a bit. Good luck and let everyone know what you find, we try to always update one another to save some grief.

    Welcome to the gang!

Awe MAN!!! Joby1 has been holding out on us!!! Great setup dood - I have questions...that hot water heater setup is great - is it set up with quick release connections for winter removal? What are you using to anchor the shelf above the cooler/fridge and baskets at the foot of the bed? Love the small shelf next to the bed - def gonna abscond with that idea!

WOW! That thing is insane, you have done an incredible job. I am now seriously thinking I may need to pull out what kimbo gave me and go with a custom interior. Bravo!
