since you had it mostly apart, would it have been easy to swap one of the tent body poles in the first pic? one of the three that stand up?

i have to replace one of mine. have the pole in a box since november, but have been waiting to swap it out until it warms up here. just not sure how easy it will be

Would have been really easy while apart to swap poles out. 2 bolts...

The tent does need to be folded up to remkve the cord from the track. On mine I removed the short sides working both halfs so came.off evenly then pulled the long side out. An extra set of hands to help hold the fabric up would very useful

I plan on keeping the poles and hinges for spare parts. They will take uo very little space up in the garage attic.

Well I have to say CVT has been providing great customer service with the issues I have been encountering with my new hybrid series. For the concerns with stains on one of the stargazer flaps they have provided a replacement tent body. As for the buckle strap coming unstitched they advised to get a repair quote and they'd look to cover the cost.

I'm hoping to hit the mountains this weekend and put it to use which I'm hoping to get above the rain.

Just curious what RTT and what rack you have in the bed? I've been looking at a similar setup. My girlfriend has a GFC Superlite, which is nice because we can swap it on each of our trucks depending on whose out in the wild on any given weekend.

Nice! Mine is the UpTop Bed Rack and the RTT is from a small company in Arkansas called Global Road Outdoors. Got a used one (showroom only) for $900! It’s perfect. I wanted a hard shell and it’s just me and the wife sleeping in it so I didn’t need a massive one. I’d suggest hard shell but they’re expensive new, you can find rarely used ones if you look around.

Awesome. Psyched to hear it's an UpTop. That's the brand I think I'm gonna go with for both my roof rack and my bed rack. Do you like the Bed Rack as opposed to their TRUSS system? I'm guessing the low profile helps keep those elusive MPGs higher as opposed to having the RTT sit at the cab roof height.

    Latest happenings,

Found that one of the load bars on the top of the tent is wrong. The slot for the mounting bolt head is too narrow. With the new discovery I also pointed out the waviness of the aluminum cover which I thought was probably a bit typical since it would distort when the bolts are tightened down. That being said my buddies new Rainer doesn't look that way.

So now the solution is to swap the tent out completely. But wait, I bought one of the last grey ones so that means they'll have to swap the tent body onto another frame. This is becoming quite the ordeal...CVT is trying their best to take care of it. I was planning on camping this weekend but now sounds like a 6hr round trip drive and however long it takes to do the work. CVT needs to start selling their tents through Costco so I can just drive 15 minutes and dump it off LOL.

I haven't lost faith in CVT, I know life happens.

So the Truss is the bedrack. I just got the medium height one for the reasons you named. I like that it helps the wind factor. We definitely notice when we go a state or two over like Colorado or Utah. I had to pick that and a slight overhang with the RTT over my tailgate instead of a full height bedrack and no RTT overhang. I’m sure I can find something to prop it up back there if we ever notice it while sleeping.

Anyone have a good solution for this? A big jack maybe? Haha

    Oh man…
First trip of the spring, quick little overnighter. As usual, forgot stuff. 1 day trips are good for getting back in the groove. And it’s only been 4 months…

Well, what do I say....spent 9 hrs yesterday between travel and standing around at CVT dealing with my hybrid tent woes. They were going to replace my whole tent while using the replacement grey body they previously sent....well it wouldn't fit right on the new frame. So they decided to try some sorta mix between the hybrid and I think it was the expedition...that didn't work.

They were trying to make things work out, whether stay in the hybrid Shasta w/ a different color (would swap out my awning too) or stay w/ grey in the larger Ranier or...swap out to the tried and true pioneer series Shasta....

After continuing to kick this around and growing more frustrated, I decided to swap out for the non-hybrid pioneer Shasta. This decision was based on the conversation regarding the canceled future of a hybrid design. I was told that the expedition model that was to replace the hybrid has been cancelled. Clearly there are design and manufacturing issues still being dealt with.

While it was all my decision as to what color/model solutions they presented I realize that I am back to the same design of my original tent and lighter material yet out of pocket $800+ and still having to deal with some more come Tuesday.

We live with choices we make and of course there's always unknowns.

Just damn, that all kinda sucks. Fingers crossed that my hybrid is one of the good ones, planning on living out of it for 6 weeks this summer.
