I'm on my 2nd set of Wildpeaks in load range SL. I'm running 265/75-16. I went with this size and load to keep my tire weight low, keep my MPG as good as possible with a taller tire. I do run it in the snow in the winters traveling on mountain roads and I never loose traction. They are amazing in wet and snow covered roads. I live in the desert and never have had a tire side wall get damaged off road. I also air down to 20 psi in the sand dunes and with the 75 series side wall get a bigger foot print that gives me more traction. Plus the taller side wall gives you better ride quality and protects your rim better by being taller. My only complaint is the price went up a lot from my first set at discount tire. My tires stayed quite thruout their life span and stayed balanced as well. I think they are still cheaper than most other brands. I hope this helps.

Very helpful, thank you. I see you are in Vegas. Are the offroad trails mainly sandy or rocks also and/or the locations you do go to, what is the terrain like. It is a mix here in Southern CA. Sections with sand followed by sections with rocks. Not large rocks per se', but some jagged edges and no way really around them. I drive pretty slow so I don't worry about impact tears, but I worry about the slow grind next to a jagged edge that rubs the sidewall.

Hard for me to justify an E rated tire though.

Your welcome. Doing research on tires and being happy with your selection is very important. Tires are expensive. Our desert is also a mix of sand and rocks. I agree with you that you need to be careful of sidewall damage with jagged rocks. This applies to all tires, SL, C or E rated. Sharp rocks will be bad on all of them. Choose your line over obstacles and you will be fine. We also have the Nellis sand dunes which is a blast to air down tires and run the dunes. I tested my crawl control there when I first bought my truck by purposely buried my truck to the frame rails and let crawl control get me out. You will love the Wildpeaks. If you buy from Discount Tire buy their tire warranty. If you do damage the tire they will replace it. That will give you piece of mind with a SL tire. Btw most of us use our trucks 90% of the time on road and only 10% offroad. So pick your tire for your personal needs. Just my 2 cents.

    Good Morning all,

I have had the Wildpeake's SL 265/70/17 on for about 1,000 miles now. Unfortunately, I have not had time to do any off-roading yet. I have been busy at work. I still like the tires the same as when I decided to go with them over KO2's. My 22 Sport seems to be one of the one's that gets poor gas mileage from the factory. I drive a lot in the city with some long highway commutes. The combination of the lift and the tires happened practically all at once, so here is what I noticed. Overall mileage has dropped about 1.5 mpg, from 15.6 to 14.2 mpg. I am running the 29 psi recommended on the drivers door sticker. Perhaps airing them up will yield better results. On a 350 mile freeway run this week, I did manage to get 17.7 mpg at 75 mph, which is pretty good probably for that kind of speed. The tires seem to ride nicely, however the Icon suspension setup is stiffer than the stock Sport suspension, so it's hard to differentiate the ride of the tire from the stiffness of the new suspension.
Hopefully I will be able to hit the trails soon and report back how they felt aired down to 20 psi.

One thing I can say for sure, they look awesome!

Congrats on your purchase! You will like them. I would run them at a higher psi. Try 32 and 35 psi. It does help with mpg.

265/70/17 is not a stock size, so you should bump it up a few psi.

    Truck looks great man!

I did buy the tire warranties, it does give an added sense of assurance vs ruining an expensive tire or two and having to purchase them all over again.

I pretty much did a coin toss between the wildpeaks and went KO2's /C load @31psi, I've got about 3k miles on them but not convinced I made the best choice because they are stiffer than the stock Goodyear's. I like the looks of the Ko2 but really wish I would have looked a little closer at everything available in 265/70/17.... strange how so many people run the Ko2's and swear by them , I was so confident they would easily tik all the boxes and they do drive good no question but the more I run them daily the more I want a tire with a little bit softer sidewall.

Thanks for the advice, I went ahead and bumped them up today to 32 and hopefully that will help with mpg.
